However, it is not possible to fit the toolkit under the seat because of a massive plastic container that might be to do with emissions. Can anyone confirm this? Ridiculous location - am sure that it could have been shaped to fit under near the taillight area.

Yep - it's Euro 4 nonsense (and bloody annoying).

I'm sure someone will figure out how to do away with it soon (and I will be following them once it's proven not to make anything blow up).

Just needs the accessories fitting & PDI, and I should have it Tuesday/ Wednesday.:beerjug:

I like the new headlight protector.:D

Nice but I'll stick to the 1190r for the meantime.

I get 'each to their own' and I get 'buy what you want, not what you think others find cool'

Guzzi's aren't my thing at all but I do understand why 'some' like them. In the interest of fair balance, Ducatis aren't my thing either.

Don't wait....call the Samaritan's now, before this gets any worse! :duck:

Nutty, went out on the 1290 S out of Premier KTM today. Interesting bike. First time I've paused for thought. Normally jump back on the GSA and have my restless doubts settled. But that bike is actually really rather good.

That said it was quite 'buggy'. Warning flashed on when I rode off. I went back and on the way was looking at it all when I went past one of those 30mph fixed cameras....not sure how fast I was going :blast
Darren plugged it in and said it was heated grip activation when there aren't any on that bike, which seems quite poor. The worst issue I noticed (apart from a police X5 on a mission to catch me up and then followed me for miles! I hate that. Good job they didn't stop me and check the GoPro!) was the bike properly bogged in 3rd 4th 5th when you pushed past 2/3rd throttle. It wasn't at all clean revving. I did the decent thing and mentioned it. Thought the engine had a couple of unusual notes, one that seemed to be clutch related, a kind of dry sound that you could hear at a stand-still.

Apart from that, I found the bike excellent. I see what the test riders for bike mags mean about it inspiring confidence. It carries it's weight very differently to the GSA but I got used to that quite quickly. Great dash. Couldn't work out how to make it wheelie...tried turning off the traction control/ABS but no go. Perhaps just as well as the men in blue may have spotted me...came out of nowhere!

Had 20 minutes on the 1290 SuperDuke R after. Darren said most riders bring it back saying it's too much for them! They need to get out more bnige

I removed mine, plugged the hose from the vacuum pump and extended the tank vent to the floor instead by removing the T-piece in the pipe, removing the canister does allow some additional Space.

Hopefully getting mine S next week as well. When i rode the demo at Premier had no issues, but did feel the brakes lacked bite, but don't think it had many miles on her, also cruise wouldn't work as this only gets switched on after 1st service. Done a lot of miles on BM's but sometimes a change is good.

Arsey rode that bike last week, he must have broken it! :D

There were no issues on the one I rode; the only thing that surprised me was that the brakes weren't anywhere near as good as on my XR, despite being the same Brembo set up. I'm sure that once it's got some miles on the clock, and everything is bedded in, they'll be fine.

I thoroughly enjoyed my brief test ride on it, and am looking forward to getting some trips away planned over the summer.

"Cruise turned off until first service"? Never heard such a load of tosh! Sorry to be offensive. Probably another software switch that needed turning on more like. It was working yesterday. Seemed to work well at speed but struggled to stick at 30mph and gradually slowed to 24.

I really hope that some of what I experienced was down to software as they're bound to update that over time. Seems a great bike otherwise.

Darren mentioned that the older metal and plastic panniers should fit. The lid width on those is the same. I hate the look of the ones that are different sizes. Can someone confirm this?

Man.....I have woken up feeling positive this morning :blast

The brakes were fine Nutty. But there was noticeably more lever travel before they did anything. Not a show-stopper, but I suspect you're like me a like something to happen almost the instant the lever is pulled. Not sure this will be something you can adjust though. Possibly a bit of air in it, but don't think so. XR a very different machine.
