1290 Super Duke test ride

Nice write up Sir Melch. :thumb2

I haven't seen the SE model before and whilst it looks damn fine in those colours and spec I think I prefer the standard black (I know they do a standard orange one as well) as it's more stealth like.

I initially liked the black and have always previously liked black bikes. Problem with black is it shows up every damn speck though and can look a little like trying just a bit too hard to be badass. I seem to be happy with different colours as i get older. Mid life crisis or maybe turning into a bit of a ponce, who knows!

The worst kind of people are tight with themselves, just get it bought, fuck the GT the SD is the way to go, some bikes are meant to be fun not practical!

I did consider one Arsey. In fact I was keenly watching for the arrival of the GT months before they came out. I saw one at the London show and really liked it. The problem for me though is the spiralling of costs. Before you know it it would be £18K for the GT I reckon quite easily. I am but a humble chippy and money is hard earned.

Also as my other bike is very specific (dirt) this one has to tick lots of boxes including nipping about locally to see customers etc. Admittedly the SD is a bit of a crazy weapon to do that on but it is probably more suited to being an all rounder than a very specific sports tourer. This is the problem I think with motorcycles now. They are all designed with a very specific purpose in mind.

I hear what you're saying-the GT is crazy money ! Luckily I don't pay VAT .
But I would have thought it more practical as its a mad Superduke during the day, then slap the panniers on and it becomes a mad sports tourer at the weekend, with emphasis on SPORTS

Inspired by this thread I've told Amanda I intend buying one to keep the 1190 company.

At first she thought I was joking (which I am :( ), now she thinks I'm serious :yikes

It's been nice knowing you boys'n'girls, anybody want my David Gilmour ticket?

You know how slack I am Shep.

You're all bastards! :D I thought I would come in here and ask for impartial sensible advice on whether to blow a big wad on a big stoopid motorcycle. (I guess I knew what would happen though, I just wanted to hear people say...."yeah, go on, cracking idea, what's the worst that could happen?")

I'm off to MumsNet to ask in there what they think.

Alternatively pop into the Gnarly bar (pretty much the same clientele) for some polite, friendly, impartial advice...?

I guessing it would go something along the lines of "Fuck fucked fucking fuck spack fuck fucker fuck get out fuck fucked".

Don't do that!

Just ducked thinking Bez1 was behind me dressed in his tiger onesie and gimp mask. :D

Hang on a minute - a new contender appears for that bag of cash.
