Is the Givi top rack any good? I've been thinking about getting one for my E460. I would fit a large (but light) roll containing foam sleeping mats to it, but I was worried that the wind pressure might tear it loose, or at least cause it to leak. So, is it strong enough and can the fitting be made waterproof?
The Givi rack is excellent. I use it regularly, mainly for my rain suit, in a compression bag, or my air mattress in a dry bag.

Great write up, thanks
There's plenty of food for thought there but re. the Fastway pegs, how much do you find they compromise ground clearance when on the lowest setting. I'm in two minds whether to get them or not as this is a real concern of mine.
Cheers
Andres
I find no compromise but the little they move down relieves my knees just that bit more so the ride is much more enjoyable.

Not bad for an air/oil cooled bike or am I missing something.
I must have a had a KTM 950 on the brain again.

My mistake. I meant the fuel pump o-ring as Mouse says

I'll post up the info for the pelican case in a separate post. Lots of pics and very useful. I've added the padding that comes with it and pared down the tool kit so that it's tight but easily closes.

Recalls:
1. O-ring on the waterpump. 1/2 hour replacement time ..... NOT MINE ..
Problems:
1. Neutral light went out, reset @ service interval. Problem was recognized as too much water exposure
2. Centre stand bolt sheared and I believe it is going again, but don't quote me on that one. HAVE A PIC OF THAT PROBLEM ?
Where do you usually ride in the OTTATA area. DO YOU HAVE ANY GOOD ROUTES USING BACK RDS TO TO ? GOTTA RIDE MTL ---> TO TO VISIT SISTER NEXT WEEK.... OH YEA DID I TELL YOU THAT YOUR LIGHT SET-UP ROCKS ! AHHH MAYBE ONE DAY !

I've only used Metzelers and my mileage is always out of town, I hardly ridein the city so the mileage seems to last better. I find tire pressure is very sensitive. I set mine cold and check it weekly esp. before and after a trip camping where it carries more of a load.
My bike is an '04 model so I'm guessing the recall won't apply to your '05. Sorry no pic of the problem. I first noticed it coming back from Deal's Gap, fully loaded for a week of camping. It became increasing harder to get up on the centre stand. I just guessed that it was me being fatigued esp. in the heat of the US south in July. I sheared it and I still have the bolt so I'll take a picture and add it to this post tomorrow. I don't feel I was ever overloaded and assumed that when I initially owned the bike, rolling it off of the centre stand might have twisted it to one side. But since the replacement I haven't been rolling off of the centrestand while on the bike so I can't explain it. Perhaps loaded with gear it's simply too much for the bolts. If it does go again I'll look into a more stout bolt.
I usually head up to Calabogie, down 41 to and across to Oompah and in that area. Recently I've been riding to the Adirondacks and last weekend to the Cromag rally in NH. I'm heading up to either Gaspe Penn or Manitoulin Is. this weekend. Get it in while I can enjoy the weather.
I use highway 7 to Peterborough, cut across through Port Perry instead of following 7 up to Lindsey and then again onto 7 through Orangeville, over TO onto Elora Gorge to be past TO. Then I'd drop down to 14, it runs parallel to 2 but is much faster due to less traffic/police presence. I usually do Ottawa to Windsor in 7-8 hours of actual riding time.

I also have the E360 Givi top box, same as in your picture but without the rack. I found that by taking out the document holder in the lid, I was then able to fit two full size crash helmets in it. In your case I would make sure the screws holding the rack on don't make it even harder as its a snug fit. Also beware that riding around with a helmet in the back box your helmet could possibly get scratched as mine did. If possible use one of those helmet carriers that come with the helmet. (Those think crappy things). Or rap it in something.

Thx Jay, much appreciated.
