12GS NWS hugger pics!!!

Thanks CC. I realised after I'd asked the question that having the crap catcher hanging off the rear end of the paralever, as far from the swingarm pivot as possible, would not be helping rear suspension compliance.

Mark me down as another purchaser of the Motorrad Concepts hugger!

Thanks, Tomcat.....

The NWS response.

Hi, Simon here, proprietor of NWS. I can not deny that I have been taken aback by the response to my hugger. I would like to make a couple of points..........
The NWS hugger weighs approx. 750 grammes c/w the mounting kit. I use mild steel for mounting brackets because I believe it offers the best compromise of strength, weight and ease of manufacture. The bracket has a durable satin black finish and is mostly obscured by the hugger and rear mudguard.

I decided that there was little point in developing a product that required removal of components already fitted to the bike for the purpose of crud reduction, ie the rear mudguard and shock guard.

I have produced in excess of 60 different huggers over the years and I can no longer bring myself to produce dull and unstyled ones. I accept that I may have gone too far on this one but, speaking as a GS 1150 owner, I did not believe it would be possible to offend BMW owners with aesthetics!
Early in the development process I concluded that it was not possible to run the hugger below the swing arm due to the lack of clearence as the swing arm articulates with suspension travel. If Motorrad Concepts have overcome this I take my hat of to them, or I would if it had not fallen off when I bent down to pick the ball up. Ha,ha. Thank you for your time, Simon. NWS
If anybody wishes to contact me other than via this thread go to www.n-w-s.com.

Just placed my order - would've been nearer to the head of the queue but been out the country for a few days :(

Must have now got enough orders for an extra mould by now though so hopefully won't have to wait too long for delivery ;)

Ordered mine in the colour to match the bike - yellow, you know the fast one :)

What have others done. Gone for the colour of their bike or plumped for the black/silver choice?

All is revealed:

90% Black
2% Silver
4% Blue
2% Red
1% Yellow
1% Custom

You are the only one with a fast bike.
All the rest have been ordered for super fast bikes.

Two things.

I thought it was very good of the guy from NWS to post the response he did. It can not be easy working out a solution to have it so resolutlely rejected. Credit to him and I hope he finds some takers for the product.

Dutch, is the colour impregnated into the plastic of the hugger or is it colour matched with paint? I ask as was going to order colour matched but was fearful of chipping.

Impregnating the plastic with colour would not provide an exact match for the OE colours.

They are therefore painted with BMW paint & a special laquer which is very hard wearing.

It is therefore no more or less vulnerable to damage than any other painted panel on the bike.

Hi Chris,

just wondering how things are going with the production and if your indications of an April delivery date's still on the cards?

Hi Reggie

Yes......we're currently on schedule with taking care of the backlog......in fact those that were quoted early April may well receive theirs in the last week of March.

You'll know when delivery is iminent when you get an invoice.....;)

are you sure it wasnt run over by a tank track before intallation
sorry but it does look a little whacky

Not been online for a while so just seen the pics. What a piece of shit!!
looks like a klingon's forehead !!They're attempt at a hugger for the 1100s wasn't much better either. In my opinion the only one that looks something like (if you like huggers) is the version by wunderlich, at least it looks properly made.
Never ceases to amaze me when people spend all that many on a cracking bike and then devalue it straight away with something that looks like its been cobbled together in your shed

Hey Dutch,

What happened to the pics you agreed to post of your GS with hugger just after a ride in shite conditions so I can see how it works rather than conduct a beauty contest????
