12GSA.. big desert crash

Ouch. Looks like when the police BMWs were overloaded on the rear with radio equipment etc caused a few to lose the rear end killed a PC in Kent. Wonder if it could be due to rear weight I.e too much of it. Who knows crazy speed for such terrain, bike and lugggage.

Luckily when that was shot they didn't have to cope with being caught up in a civil war to spice up the bike's recovery and repatriation!

The cervical spine curvature looks very straight and after that he's likely to have whiplash injuries. But an xray like that can be because it was imaged with patient lying flat. Whiplash soft tissue injury (ligaments etc) is what comes back to haunt in a few years time as arthritis if there was inadequate backup from manipulating physio or chiropractor.

Don't know the speed, ton plus I guess, on a sweeping fast corner. BMW/Kent Pol were in the frame for overloading the bikes from the injured parties dead and wounded.

I have ridden off road and on road for the last 20+ years, off road on 2 stroke Gas Gas and a 4 stroke yamaha. Had a lot of the big litre and 600 sports bikes and still have some.

Whether the speed is crazy is subjective, we all have our opinions personally as in my post; I would not ride a big utilitarian motorcycle laden such in that manner....either way the proof is there to see when the proverbial hit the fan and the rider lost control of the bike, the bike was severely damaged, he was injured and that was the end of his adventure. vos componat pecunia tua or similar.

I am unsure of what qualifications I need to make such a personal subjective judgement; others in a similar vein above my post have also alluded to that fact e.g.

"Not seen anyone riding so recklessly since I was following a well known Morocco tour leader on a battered old 1150adventure.

but he seemed to want to die that day"

I concur.

All that weight on soft sand plus rocks and at that speed it must of hurt.....

You just have to watch the Dakar to see how light bikes oscillate and track about in sand. I suppose the take home message is..... Riding a G's like a ktm200 is risky and a bit daft but hey....we've all done daft things and sadly not managed to film them...

I tend to ride my G's offroad a bit steadier than my endure bike but everyone makes mistake.......hence me current and pain full broken ribs:rob:rob
