First service is coming up - faster than I'd like, but that's a separate problem.

Question: does the fuel tank come off as part of the first (post-running in) service?

Reason for asking: Nautilus compressor is nestling in the cut-out where the charcoal cannister is located in the US models and would need to be removed to allow the tank to be removed.

TIA

No and it will stay on for the foreseeable future, too.

Thanks Wapping.

When I had my previous 12GSA, I muttered to the dealer about the routing of the power cable to the Nautilus - I'd taken it over the tank under the tank covers - he suggested that they could route it under the tank properly at the next service at no cost. That implies to me that the tank comes off at some services. Is that not the case?

There is no need to remove the tank for normal servicing requirements. Its possible to route cables underneath it without removing the tank so maybe thats what they would do.

Thanks Beemerman.

For the current installation I have run the cable along the top of the air intake tube and secured it with cable ties. This seems better than running it over the tank.

I would just remove the compressor, as if for whatever reason the mechanic needs to remove it there will be a minimum 15 minute charge, and going by BMW rates that will be circa £20 + VAT
