12GSA high quality pics

Deposit paid :dance :dance :dance

Am #4 on a certain North Dublin dealers list :D :D

Better get saving - seeing as nobody has offered me anything for the kids ;)

There must be loads of recent-buy 12 owners on here who are kicking themselves tonight.

Maybe but this 1200 owner is quietly patting himself on the back.

Take my modded 1200 with lower seat and wide footpegs.

Make the seat as tall as the Adv

Make it as heavy as the Adv by adding 'top hamper'

Make the screen a barn door

and I'd be selling it.

Nice looking bike but not for me.

I'm sure I'll manage to keep up ;)

Some have mentioned a tweaked increase in HP and torque - I cannot find confirmation of this at present ... yes they list the 15/17% increases over the previous GSA. I am guessing this has the same specs as the "basic" 1200?

Also is it not strange that the nomenclature ADVENTURE does not appear ANYWHERE on the bike???? Issues with KTM maybe???

Pics of the bike with tank off show an interesting cubbyhole space below rear seat (which I had heard about some time back from guys who had seen the R&D version) - useful for toolkit (no not BMW :) etc.
Also seems to be space forward of airbox for mounting a small aircompressor -have had this on my non-ABS 1150 and is VERY handy.

I was hoping that rumour (cubbyspace) was true. In an ideal world I would like to carry a first aid kit, sensible tool kit and bike manual, as well as being able to mount an Autocomm kit and a PMR (US: FRS) radio for bike-to-bike comms.

......" Looks way better than the standard 12 ".....Direct quote from my R1 riding mate......and I have got to agree......A job well done BMW.

Life just got more complicated.........

BMW 12 ADV

Or

Ducati 1000 s2r

Or

Triumph 900 Scrambler

.......Just bought Saturday's lottery ticket..............

Its Amazing

All you critics of the 1200 are amazing. The 1200GSA still has plastic side panels you know the ones you have told us 1200Gs owners you hate, the crap servo brakes, it still has final drive you all say is crap, as with the gear box it shares with the standard 1200GS. It still has the crap over sophisticated electrics system you keep reminding us 1200Gs owners about. How do BMW make you all think that NOW it is its brilliant, simple?
1. Add a large 33 litre tank that is as ugly as sin and makes the bike look like a pregnant duck from the front
2. Add a new screen and wings so you hardened adventure riders won’t get wet.
3. Add another 4 stone in weight, just what you need for picking up your bike when you have dropped it and the pathetic crash bar have folded up into you over large tank
4. And I almost forgot a stratospheric seat with a height of around 860 to 925 to go along with the increased suspension travel.
Now suddenly it’s brilliant, perhaps this is because it is now almost the same as you current GSA only about 1k more expensive.
BMW marketing wins again
I personallywill with stick with my standard 1200GS and continue to rack up another 17000 miles

If it's any consolation, I still think it's crap.

You can't go around saying stuff like that!!

Far too logical and sensible.

You'll upset people.

Just keep quiet and enjoy your 1200 like what I do

Just seen these pictures of teh 1200ADV. I fully accept that I am a shallow individual, but I really really love it. As someone has said elswhere, it now looks (for me) as it should have done originally. if I had the money, I would have one tomorrow. Very impressed, I must say.

The press release pictures look great. Its a nice bike, but look closely when you see it in the flesh there is evidence of crap welding, poor finish, sharp edges corner cutting etc. :( It will still sell well though!

cheap light mount, not much thought here!

Pannier frame missmatch and looks very add on. Footrest hangers look like a bodged afterthought :(

Welding on the panniers is rough in many places, check out the front of the near side pannier at the show for a big blob of weld. Not visible in this picture. Sharp edges in various places.

Nah, think I will stick with my 1150GSA for a couple of years until they sort out the quality control :D

Give them a chance. The bike is four or five months away from first deliveries; what you've been looking at is a prototype (other than the standard 12GS features).

It's amazing how non-BMW owners are prepared to give a balanced viewpoint, yet owners of obsolete BMW models seem to spend their time looking for faults.

Just arrived from the NEC, this bike looks great and not as big as it looks on the photos. The quality has to be better for the production models though.
