12GSA high quality pics

So, by the time you throw in luggage and sales tax, setup fee etc you're looking at close to twelve large! :eek (or $22,000 in real money :P ).

Can you say overpriced? I know you can. I really like the new Adventure (I'm trying not to be over excited :D ) but jeebus. I think BMW are pricing me out as one of their customers.

But you can't simply take the price in one country and convert the currency to know what it will cost somewhere else. The import duties and other cost factors are not the same. If I am not mistaken, people in the UK pay considerably more than in many other countries.

Never heard anyone say this in real life, the nearest was Louis Armstrong singing "Jeepers, creepers....where’d ya get them peepers"

Good golly :D

Having seen the beast in the flesh, I'm not at all certain that BMW's done the best thing with the choice of finishes. For a start I hate the large R1200 logo on the tank. It would get the hairdryer treatment on day 1 and be replaced with the far more suble R1200 logo found on the 1200GS.

And I don't like the olive tank flank. I would either replace it with the silver one from the 1200GS or paint it.

Chatting to several visitors on the stand, almost all seemed to want to have a choice over seat and tank flank colours, "Why can't I have a black/red seat with Matt Aluminium tank?"

As for the tank colours... I love the Matt Aluminium finish on the 1150GSA tank, but on the 1200GSA it doesn't work for me. I think it's because it's predominantly on a single flatish area, so I've had a quick play to see what might happen with a paint job.

pic 1: Here's the standard jobbie.

pic 2: This is with the tank flank and the tank cover painted Matt Aluminium. The bit left unpainted is the actual plastic of the tank.

pic 3: On this one the plastic tank is also painted.

I think I prefer pic 2.

Nice work there Zmeagol but IMHO it looks best in the original colour scheme. Besides, at least the GSA comes in fairly decent standard colours unlike the HP2 which sports the worst colour scheme I’ve ever seen and no choices

I’d like to see a pic of the GSA with the rear seat and racking removed – think it would improve the lines no end :thumb

Zmeagol nice bit of work with photoshop or the like. I do agree you should be able to order any seat color with any bike color and not have to stick to what BMW want you to have.

I have my name down for one but i really dont like those panniers, They look cheap and nasty, i hope they are better when i see the bike in the flesh.

My dealer said that rumer is BMW are only bringing 200 bikes to the UK next year, sound very low amout to me? What do people reckon? Also got told that we may have the bike in late Feb or early March? WOW I'm 5th on the list so you never know. The olive drab side panel looks a bit odd, but i would have to see it up close.

Lets hope touratech do another set of panniers for it or we will be stuck with those ugly looking things.

I reckon the dealer wants your money and will say anything to get it

I've been told first deliveries are expected at dealers 27 March. They then need to be assembled and prepped. I don't believe the story of 200 units. The UK is the second biggest market for GS bikes.

Although the rear subframe is considerably beefed up (presumably some of the weight gain), the fixing points are similar, so in reality any panniers designed for the 12GS will fit.

If you remove the rear stainless steel grab handle/carrier, the expandable GS plastic boxes will fit; conversely the GSA boxes will fit on a GS if you replace the flying arch with the stainless steel carrier.

However, if the panniers end up looking like the ones on display I won't be buying them. How long did TT have to get this right? Metal Mule and other pannier/box options are looking increasingly attractive.

Zmeagol, as you have seen the beast in the flash the extra height? It looks to me as though alot of it is in the seat itself?

My choice of colours:- But I decided the grey seat would be better LOL

I'm pretty certain this pic compares the 12GS with low
seat to the 12GSA with its seat in the high position.

Although nobody at the show could confirm it, I believe
the 12GS low seat will fit on the 12GSA.

Alf I had my money down on one before the dealer said anything about the 200 inport but i can imagine that that line will be used if someone isent to sure. I do agree with Zmeagol as the UK plays a part in buying so many GS bikes, why slow the flow? Maybe as we pay so much more for stuff in the UK the Germans must love us.

Anyone been on one of those BMW off road training things in whales? Any decent sheep? Also whats the course like?

My notebook is 1920 pels wide, even I have to scroll! Nice pics though.

The second to last shows the confusion of metal bars underneath the topbox--it looks as complicated as the TT Garmin mount.

The third from last pic shows one of the little plastic dust jobbie over each of the locks securing the panniers/topbox. Don't think they will last ten seconds.

Apparently the decision whether or not to show the 12GSA at the NEC was only finally made in the last two weeks, hence the conflicting rumours. Maybe this is the reason for the unfinished look of the luggage.

Cmon laddies, lets get customising. Here is my ratbike version. Get yer paintboxes out. Have a bit fun.
