12GSA Rear wheel pitting

Now there's a chance it might be stuck on brake dust - but today I found there appears to be pitting starting on the rim of my rear wheel. Before I break out the wonder wheels I'm told that the use of cleaners (other than soapy water) is specifically advised against the warranty.
I met a bloke at the off-road school a couple of weeks ago (a dealer himself) who had this problem and told me the above. Anybody else had it? - any dealer views?
I've used muck-off a few times, but its never given me a problem on other bikes - I even used ACF50 last November.

i had what i first thought was pitting, but it came off with cleaner (wonder wheels?) and elbow grease. i think it was bits of brake pad.

Don't use Wonder Wheels!

If you want to see why that stuff cleans caked-on brake dust off, just pour a little (neat) onto a concrete surface.

Go to a BMW car dealership and buy a wheel cleaning kit.

This BMW stuff is not acidic (like most wheel cleaners), it is a detergent. It is a strong detergent so follow the instructions about strong direct sunlight etc.

I've been using the stuff for years, it is safe and more importantly it works.

The initial kit ain't cheap but the brush set will last longer than your bike does.

Once you have used the contents of the pump bottle, go back to the dealer and buy a 4 litre re-fill instead of buying more pump bottles.

I use it as a general cleaner, all the engine and suspension will come up really well. It is a good brake cleaner too.

Best results, wet the area then spray on, agitate with a brush and hose off with lots of fresh water.

I'm not the only person to use this product, Rob Farmer does too, he's posted the part number if you need it.

I agree re: don't use wonder wheels.......I used it on my car wheels to get some stuborn marks off and now the wheels are pitted
