Hi guys,

Does the adventure have a 12v socket, like a cigarettle lighter in a car??? if so is it waterproof when a plug is plugged into it??

If not how easy is it to get to the battery??

Reason I am asking as when I pick the bike up on saturday I want to be able to power up the tom tom. so will have to run the power lead from the battery to the handlebars, even if it is a crude tae up job till I get her home

Thanks

Socket

They do have a socket std BMW pattern a hella plug fits, and has a water proof flap to keep out water. Not the same as a car much better.

Ah that answers that then

So ok how easy is it to get to the battery is it just a case of taking off the riders seat???

what tools will I need for that??

Yes it has a socket but its the smaller DIN/Hella/BMW size. You can get an adapter or new cable etc. Its below the seat on the LH side, its switched to the ignition and has a 5A load limit. There are plenty of options to change/upgrade/add to the standard setup depending upon what you need.

Blimey, 2 posts in the time it took to type. Its under the riders seat and you will need a torx key for the positive terminal - should be the right size in the toolkit if I remember correctly.

Just so you know, there's a power outlet plug underneath the headlight unit used for powering stuff such as SatNav. I don't know if you can get a cable for a TomTom - I have one for a Garmin Zumo.

Thanks for that i will order one up and hopefully it will be here before saturday.
This way its just a case of plug in and play with a bit of sticky tape to keep cable tidy.

Thanks again

I used that cable to try and plug in my cheapo Navigo car satnav but for some reason it wont charge. I got myself a mini usb cable and cut off the large usb connector and soldered the cables together using the instructions on this site but to no avail. Instead of a steady red charging led on the unit i get a momentary red light then nothing. God knows what im doing wrong.

This is the plug to use. It fits a cigarette lighter socket with the red adaptor and the DIN (BMW) socket without.

I will be making it a permanent fixture when I get the bike back home here in Guernsey, this is just a temperary fix so I can find the hotel so i can sleep well lol.

The Navigo is 5v to charge not 12v that comes out of the bike satnav connector.

The USB socket you tried won't have been able to provide enough juice to charge the Navigo so will have shut itself down.
