1300 gsa spec

What is a reason to ever prefer non adaptive cruise??, apart from not having it on the bike.

when its driving you mad - which with the overly huge gap that you can't close down enough (to try and stop every fool pulling in to a gap) will be most of the time

reverting to normal cruise would mostly negate that silliness - I regularly use vehicles with both systems - on certain stretches of congested road, the old system is less irritating than a dithering system that is struggling to cope with road rage halfwits around you

active cruise can so cleverly manage the gap without you realising its stolen 15mph - you can struggle to get in to a faster flowing lane - coz rather than teasing your speed up by 5 mph to slip past in a gap - you end up needing to make up 20 mph and then there often isn't the space to do so safely

it should be lower - as the bike can back off the throttle - rather than needing to brake to drag speed back down
But you use engine braking when you aren't using ACC anyway. So no reason pad wear should be less with ACC.

vs std cruise that you cancel at the last minute using the brakes - as turning it off is offensive

we have so much congestion, so many cameras and ave distance motorways - the only way to cope is to put cruise on and let the fools play silly buggers

For me it depends greatly on where you ride

I didn’t spec adaptive cruise on my GS or on my car, we’ve had it on a couple of my wife’s company cars and I’ve tried it on a loan bike, on French roads and motorways I hate it, all it ever does is interfere with what I want to do

Now if I lived in the UK I might see things differently, if I used the M25 frequently for example, I’d think it was a godsend

A brief dip in to the user manual ( GS but doubt GSA would be different ) seems to indicate the adaptive cruise function can be de-activated and used as a conventional fixed speed set up. Might give a bit of flexibility if you've got a dealer offering an ACC bike with the other bits you want but has a deal equaling or bettering a non ACC bike. Be interested to hear how flexible dealers are at the moment.
For me based on the spec i am after few about deals are not great , spread of on one bike same spec the price to change was 2k different.

TBH I would get it if you have an easy option.

The radar cruise & impact detection (WITH MIRROR FLASHY BLINDSPOT THING) / electric screen / adaptive ride height / more adjustable suspension were the 4 reasons I upgraded.

None really a 'must have' - but all things I wanted to have (at least a bit).

If you get them on the bike, and are planning to keep it a few years, you can easily turn them off / ignore them.

Not so easy the other way round.

I got exactly what I was looking for on a ready built bike, paid & picked up in the same week - there were >60 in a variety of specs within BMW group stock.
