Hi folks,

If you're thinking of buying a 1300, this is your ultimate buying guide, where I do a deep drive on all the options and packages and I break it all down.

Some of these things can get confusing, so I tried to make it as simple as possible.

Let me know what you think!!

Cheers,
Rami

The basic now comes in red, all the other colours are cost option.

missed these

S0547A Sport Suspension - faster more comfortable bike with enhanced grip and braking, as it has more travel to cope with the mess we call roads - sits 20 mm higher
S05AG Adaptive Light Modes - new head lamp modes auto tweaks beam pattern round town, as you speed up, and when ripping it
S05AR Rear Collision - miss explained the changes to rear radar stuff

Just watched it. Really useful, especially for someone like me whose still riding an oil cooled version!

Ref the lithium battery. My experience so far has been yes, in the cold (1° and lower) they need a little massaging to do their thing. But on the charging front, I have to say that seems their strength. They hold a charge far better than a comparable lead acid battery. Saying this, the 1250 and 1300 seen to be more computer than bike, so maybe there's a drain going on my antique doesn't have

Thanks lad, I appreciate that!

I do have a video related to the upgrade from the 1200, it was my first vid and I was still figuring out some settings but still good info in there:

Regarding the battery, I don't know... It doesn't give me piece of mind having the lithium one. It hasn't given me any issues but I would prefer a good old fashioned led acid... Weight saving is technically the only benefit and on this size of bike, makes no difference whatsoever.

Cheers!!!

You have more experience with the 'new' bikes compared to me, so I am listening! But BMW's price for the battery is too much (unless they do some systems mods we never hear of that accommodates the LiPo battery better??!)

The video was really helpful. You broke down a complicated story quite well! I'm definitely a little clearer on details now

@RTV

Good video, agree with you on the engine, it’s mad

Do you ride much 2 up ? The reason I ask is that you didn’t mention the variable spring rate, which I find a real game changer with a pillion
Not anymore, no. Have plenty of experience 2 up on the 1200 and that had the same auto leveling suspension, it worked flawlessly. So I would expect the 13 so be the same if not better.

Cheers!!

It’s not just the preload that’s adjusted on the 13, there’s a second spring in the piggy back tube on the shock, it stiffens the suspension up when there’s extra weight on the bike, it’s surprisingly effective

Ah yeah, I see what you mean.

I must get wifey out of the XR and test it out 😁
