Just goes to show that it is possible to get a reasonably high mileage on a 1200........!

Only mechanical failure apparently was the driveshaft at 60k, rear pads were changed at 49,500miles and front pads at 119,000miles and the shocks were swapped for Ohlins at 22,000miles!

Guess i'll be hanging on to my 7,000mile GSA30 for a wee while yet then.....!

Front pads that last 119,000 miles?................has he been driving in a circle the whole time?

One swallow does'nt make a summer,. But 10,000 Starlings are a pain in the arse.;)

Probably spent its life on the freeway/interstate. You only need to brake every 300 mles or so for fuel.

What do you mean "reasonably high mileage"? There are plenty cars in the scrap yard before that mileage let alone bikes.

There's guys on ADVrider heading for 250,000 miles on their 1200's.......Which is a bit more impressive to say the least!

When I bought my GSA30 I thought i'd be keeping it for a while and rack up a few miles a bit on the 'old' girl......Say around 50k

I think i'll need to aim higher........but at this rate it's going to take me fifteen years to get to over 100k:eek:

Fronts maybe 119,000, though unlikely,
Rears 49,500. Not possible, even riding round in circles. Mine last circa 1 rear tyre.
Maybe he is still on the original tyres though!

Myke

Just a thought but do you have ABS? ABS links the front and back brakes and yes it wears out the back pads quick but none abs doesn't. I don't expect to get anything like that out my front pads but I hardly use the back brake so those should last a very long time.

If he's only doing rear pads at 50k, I don't think the bikes had a hard life.

My rear pads are less than 50% worn at 20k miles:nenau at least 13k of that is 2 up fully loaded, so it is possible, especially with a lot of motorway involved.

I put low brake wear down to anticipation and not slowing for corners.

Was looking at a Suzuki GS125 with 115,000 miles on it today

Thats more like a fair mileage
