Time to change tyres on my 650 twin and thinking I may put 100% road tyres on. The rear tyre should be a 148/80 but I've noticed this size is not readily available. Would I be ok to fit an 150/70 . ( rim size 3.5" )Anyone done this, any comments appreciated.
Thanks

You can see the effects on the speedo readings by going to a 150/70 tyre, here....

from the tire calculator

There's a similar discussion about using a 150 tyre on a 3.5" rim here....

Overall, it doesn't appear to be too problematic. In any event fitting pure road tyres may well quicken the steering anyway and using a 150 tyre on a 3.5" rim might increase this effect a bit.

Takes a little getting use to. My last two rear tires have been 150/70 and you will notice a slight difference but you'll get used to that really quick. Not even the dealer here was stocking 140/80 for the 658 and couldn't even give an estimated delivery time for a 140/80 tire.

I had a 150/70 on my standard alloy Fg650GS Rear was a tourance. And worked great for me :thumb2

I did not think about the few MPH difference in actual to real Speedo reading and it would not bother me most are down compared with sat nav readings anyhow :nenau !

but now I have a 150/70 Heidenhau scout on a F800GS Rear wheel (on the F650GS :D) , next tyre most likely back to the tourance reasoning being i'm more Road orientated riding :D

I have a 150/70 TKC80 on the rear of my 650 twin with no ill effects. The slight error in indicated speed posted above is about the same as the original built-in overestimate in my speedometer calibration. Overall, the indicated speed now ends up being 5 or 6% optimistic which is of little interest or effect.
