17" front wheel with ABS ??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone fitted a 17" front wheel onto a 1200GS with ABS??
I am in the process of doing this, but when I left my new rim at the dealers today, to have the discs & ABS ring fitted, he said that he had heard when this was done on a 1150 GS with ABS it caused the ABS warning light to be permanently on because the smaller wheel was going around faster, and this fooled the ABS into thinking there was a problem.

Has anyone had this problem.................

nope , got a 17' alloy on the front and ive had no problems
ps its a 52reg bike with servo assisted crap

think the chap telling u is telling porkies ... only thing to watch out for is the abs sensor may need to be re shimmed as mine was hitting the abs ring , ive seen a few that do and a few that dont ...

I've put a 17" front on my 2001 ABS 1150 - no probs.

To get the speedo right, you have to change the speedo drive too.

Number 8 Sorry, what do you mean by re.shimmed?

Does your speedo tell the correct speed?

What effect has the 17" front had on the handling, what size rear are you using, and what tyres did you put on ?
