I took my 08 GSA into Riders of Cardiff today for it's 18000 mile service. Any way I was quite shocked when I got the bill £278.35
Why shocked I can here you say. Well in May this year just after Riders opened I took the bike in for it's 12000 service and anuall inspection. Total bill £183.66.
Humm on comparing the bills other than the fact they now feed these bikes on 10/50 CASTROL RACING FULLY STY. at a cost off £59.98 the labour charge was £55.99 more expensive:blast
So does the 18000 take longer than the 12000 and anual inspection????

Not just me being rogered on oil prices then. At my 24k service I was charged £49.59 for 3.8L of Castrol 20/50 min. Even though they were retailing 1L bottles for £9! unfortunately it was spotted too late, suffice to say no repeat business.

Hi Ringmaster........

Mine in next week re 18 thou, told it includes all fluids, final drive, brake etc hence price???

Did they change ya fluids???

TD
:comfort

Nope. Engine oil and filter along with final drive oil. Thats all:beerjug:

Actually the brake fluid is changed as part of the "annual inspection" and is not linked to mileage so it could be due for a change, depends when it was last done not how many miles it's covered.

Annual service and MOT

Just had my annual service and MOT done at SSB :thumb
£133.34 with a rubber buffer replaced for the sump guard and a wire repaired in the rear loom.No advisories on MOT either:D.
Pleased with that.

Always been happy with the guys, and Galls,at SSB.Thanks all.

Dont any of you get a quote PRIOR to the service, then you wont be so shocked when you get the bill, and could also ring around for best prices!

Had the 12k + annual service done on mine recently by Cotswold BMW.
They quoted £253 and I that’s exactly what they charged me.:thumb

They did manage to kill one of my HiD spot lights when they valetted the bike though.:blast

+1 ... You often here about people quibbling over the prices of items they buy or services they use..
So why should having you bike serviced be any different.

If you can get the oils & filters (genuine obviously) cheaper, take them in with the bike and ask for these to be used ..... they don't like it but that's life

I found my first run in service invoice and noticed North Oxford charged for brake fluid change....I have never had previous new bikes brake fluid changed this soon, will question this for tomorrow's 6K service. And its 2 years for brake fluid i recall, not annually..as they told me,
cheeky monkeys...

It sounds to me like they got the prices of the 12 & 18k services a bit confundled :augie

I've always believed it was 2 years or 24000 miles for the brake fluid change :nenau

Just paid £254.00 for a 1200 mile service at Clarks. How much should it of been going to a main agent(BMW)

24k

Lots of interesting comments....with a common denominator...BMW servicing is fairly scandelous! Just had my 24k, which includes all fluids etc and the brake line recall and the bill came out at £400+ !!! I know, I know, shop around, get quotes etc, but I have limited time and needed the service, so i've no-one to blame but myself, but it's still a damned cheek to be charging the earth when you're bike sales are through the roof along with profits!

The annoying thing with BM is the lack of flexibility and the move towards the hard sell. For example, I told them that I would be expecting not to be charged the full labour cost for the service as they had to strip half the bike to get to the brake line under the tank for the warrenty fix....."oh, it doesn't work like that sir" was the response!!!! and they they had the cheek to say that there's not much stripping involved anyway !!!! You have to remove the bl**dy tank! so that's the air filter sorted at the very least!
Then came the hard sell call....."your rear brake pads are 50% worn, shall we replace them for you?" They seemed confused when I told them that the brakes still have 50% life left and that I'd change them myself when they were at 90%+! (I overheard another poor sap in the dealership, being charged £200+ for changing his pads and bleeding!!!)

Anyway, enough of my ranting, can't wait for the warrenty to run out so I get the bike seviced for a reasonable cost by an independant/myself!
