Placing this post for a friend who wants a bike to get back on the road, fettle, refurbish etc and learn along the way. He is drawn to British bikes so I have said I will ask the membership if any one has, knows someone who has etc, a project that they are looking to sell please? Based in South Lincolnshire but I am sure my friend would travel for the right machine. If there is anyone on the forum who can help, my contact details are -
[email protected]
07904693326 and I am also on WhatsApp

TIA

Bob

An old airhead might be a better bet? Given the expertise on here, the availability of parts and the likelihood of picking up a good un that's not going to be a money pit?

My friend has told me its something british that he is attracted to currently.

Good maintenance is the key :)
I also suspect that many of the companies manufacturing parts for old Brits, are using better materials, closer tolerances etc than some of the originals. I think that an old Brit that has been rebuilt with modern bearings, seals, electics etc might be pretty reliable.

Bonhams auction next week a few no reserve bike in there .

British bike prices are through the floor at present. Perfect time to buy loads of bargains out there.
As for spares . There is a lot of crap out there, bearings etc no problem to upgrade but lots of the parts produced now should never leave the shop. There are only certain suppliers i trust to sell decent stuff and i have even caught them out at times with shoddy parts that should never have got through goods inwards.

Please tell more

Which suppliers are good and which are bad. Knowledge of this could help forum members as there are a number of us that are buying spares/parts for restorations

I dont really want to post anything on a public forum. If anybody wants any info they can dm me and will help where i can.
