Due to a change in circumstances/space and a recurring elbow problem, I have reluctantly decided to part with the last few of my Classics.
I’m aware the market is not as strong at the moment but thought I’d try them on here first before subjecting myself to eblag etc.
1970 H1 (not 1a, 1b etc) ‘widow maker’ in red. Bought this bike as a US import over 15 years ago and it’s been a lot of fun. Looked after and cleaned up but not restored!
If you know these bikes you’ll know that they started in 69 in White with blue pin stripes, changed them to grey later that year and sales fell through the floor!
Kept the same bike for 1970, changed it to red and the rest is history.
Is fitted with a later 500 engine which is better imho (non CDI), however it will come with the original 1970 engine and some new casings etc It’s in a bit of a sorry state with the heads and barrels off it, which is how I got it. It would make a great project for someone, or just sell it as it is as period stuff this age would sell quite easily I’m sure.
The pipes are 70’s period made by Factory and have alloy expansion chambers, known in the US as spark arrestors.
Was professionally rewired years ago (receipt included) by Ferrets Electrickery, who was a top man in bike electrics and wasn’t cheap!
Have just recommissioned it and replaced the diaphragm and rubber internals in the petcock, starts very easily with that distinctive sound.
If you’ve ridden these bikes you’ll know how docile they are until about 6000 rpm, then hold on to your hat!!
Not the best handlers in the world, hence their nickname but I don’t ride like that anymore.
Have a video of it running which I can WhatsApp to any genuinely interested people.
I know classic prices (particularly British bikes) have dropped but old two strokes seem to be holding up better.
Asking £6500 firm for the bike and 1970 engine etc. I feel this is fair in the present climate, if it doesn’t sell I’ll just keep it until the market picks up again.
Bike is in Blackpool at my sons and viewing is welcome.
Mobile is 07815911025 if easier for any questions or pics etc.
