RD250D
UK bike, not matching numbers but DVLA documented frame change in March 2003.
I bought the bike in 2016 for my first restoration project.
Lots done including refurbished front and rear brake Systems (master cylinders, callipers, hoses)
Rebuilt front forks with new seals.
Refurbished seat pan with new cover.
New oil Tank
New battery (this year)
New pattern indicators, mirrors, grips and rear mudguard.
Bike has 2R8 barrels.
Runs, rides and stops fine.
It was last MOTd on 17 March 2017
Restoration stopped when I went overseas to work in 2018.
When I came back to the UK in mid 2019 I got a Kawasaki H1, that distracted me from the RD!
Since then I’ve continued to work on the RD sporadically.
With the exception of the tyres which look fine but are way too old, the bike is fine to use, but there are cosmetic items which need finishing as follows:
The main frame has been hand painted by previous owners and doesn’t look great close up.
I painted the bodywork myself and the “petrol-proof” lacquer on the tank turned out not to be 😡 so the tank has some marks in the lacquer and due to my clumsiness, a few chips, so really needs respraying.
Both wheels need stripping and repainting.
I could do all that and the bike would then probably be worth an extra £1K or more.
But I’m after a new project and thought more people might be interested in a fully usable Two stroke 250 for a lower price.
So based on some recent eBay sales of similar bikes in need of more work; I’m looking for £2,800
Collection only from East Grinstead, West Sussex.

I had one as a youth-RD250E. They were old bikes in the late 80s and early 90s, and affordable. Great fun. Great memories.

Great bike at a great price…….had a first ever ride on a bike which was my mates 125cc when I was 17, was then given a go of one of these and wheelied it straight into a neighbours hedge 😳😂

I hope I'm not stating the obvious, but have you tried the UK Aircooled RD Owners Club - there's a forum, and a FB page?

I have the same bike in the same colours (y)

Brilliant resource ^^^^^ also probably another venue for sale. When I bought Chris Tunners ( RIP) RD200 the air cooled club was brilliant for help. I ultimately sold mine via the bay to a guy who had one before and wanted to revisit his yoof.

Thanks guys, good shout. Bike now on the Air cooled RD forum site
