I appear to have bought an 'Airhead'...

I am going to post a few pics up later, am doing a very sympathetic restoration on this one, it hasn't (literally) been cleaned in an age. I am just going to check all the usual stuff and service it before I ride it, then a very deep clean. I think the years of grime have protected it somewhat, some photos added later..

Don't be too hard on yiourself, it happens. I 'accidentally' buy all sorts of airhead stuff... Well done

It might be worth getting it "dry ice" blasted to safely clean all the ancient crap from it without harming the finish beneath ?

Quite a few companies around now that do it, I've seen it done to the underside of vehicles with incredible results.

Well, I have photo documented this 'clean up' so will pop some on here of course.

First question, the front of the tool box/tray, how does it mount? Mine just sits on the battery, sure that (from memory) there's something missing??

Get some pics up 👍

Decided to just deep clean it, not go full on resto, the first thing was to clean the from up, the previous owner had fitted an aftermarket screen, hence the sticking plaster things on the wind deflector, they were a right bastard to get off but after a bit of effort it came up surprisingly well so I decided to remove the deflector and see what was lurking behind, more grime and another spare set of keys!

Whenever I see a bulge in a wiring loom alarm bells ring.....The funny thing is there's a connector for the rear lights not 18" from this fuck up....

Starting to look better now, that is until I remove the sump guard, 🧐🧐

Starting to look nicer now, at least I can see what ive got!

OK, Seems I am not pushing the right buttons, ill try another angle...

Here it is before I cleaned the wheels using elbow grease. The front mudguard paint was poor, so I decided as someone I know does vinyl wrapping, to wrap the front of it in the German flag, not mint, but looks a whole lot better...

And after, now to get cleaning those spokes.....

That’s better
Looks great now

Well it’s a whole lot cleaner now! I need to finish the wheels, but I’m waiting for the skin to re grow on the tips of them before I carry on….🤨

Went for a ride today, like it. The pegs are slightly high, I was wondering if the incorrect ones had been fitted?

Might take a ride to Poole Quay tomorrow…
