Hi chaps, the clearout continues...
I have, under very sad circumstances, been offered a 2008 R 1200 GS. It was a very good friend of mines bike. We lost him last month, 69 years old, shouldn't have happened, too soon etc...
I know the bike well, and it of course has its issues, fuel strip needed, been a cat n, but there was so much love for the bike by him it deserves to be bought by one of his nearest and dearest..
I know all the comments will be like "You'll regret it" and "The 100 is a much better bike" etc, but I feel compelled to buy it, probably out of loyalty to a mate as I know he would have wanted one of us to have it..
So, I cannot have two GS's, and have thought about selling the 100.
Mileage is around 59k, very original bike, I bought it from Nice & Fat from this very parish a couple of years ago. Fettled and cleaned it, and just ridden it! Been over to France a few times on it, Germany, its performed faultlessly. It has genuine panniers and I have recently had the pannier frames and crash bars powder coated.
Bike looks smart and rides well, always get comments about it.
It has an MOT but can't remember when it's due, definitely next year sometime. I serviced it before it went to France last month, and I overhauled the box as well. There are loads of pics on the Recommissioning thread I did, I will dig out the link and post it.
