1995 BMW R1100GS, reattaching exhaust pipes to cylinders

I am almost done, bike runs great but I have what I hope my last problem. The exhaust pipes continue to leak exhaust at the connection to the cylinders. I have re-done it twice to see if I messed anything up. I am tightening the nuts and new studs in a cross pattern to keep them even.

Though its better they both just continue to leak just enough to see. I am concerned about over tightening since the torque specs are so low.

any suggestions?

I also want to say I appreciate everyone's advise and help on this website. This was a first time experience for me and I couldn't have done it with the help I received here.

Try taking the nuts off 1 at a time and use an extra washer.
Just in case the threads in the dome nuts you're using aren't deep enough

I didn't see any gaskets when I removed them. Not at all. I guess I need to order some gaskets.

They might be squashed into the exhaust port that thin it looks like they're part of the head..??
