I picked up my GS this morning. A 2009 with ESA and 12k on the clock.

Had a cracking morning putting it through it's paces. Forgot how nimble these bikes are. Nice flat torque curve and light weight makes for a cracking B road blaster.

Looking forward to racking up some miles. :D

5 years and 12k! Nice one for you but some people just don't know what these bikes are for, that's Ducati mileage. Enjoy. Just back on mine after an enforced 3 month absence and I just love it.

Thanks.

I reckon i'll be getting rid of the deathwings the bike came with for a more road orientated tyre. PR 4's seem to be the tyre of choice..

2008/2009 is where BMW changed the paint process so steel parts especially start to look iffy. Its not going to flake away but they are not as durable as they should be. My 2008 has had a lot more use than 12000 miles and was kept outside for a year. But the front and back subframes and other steel parts are showing rust through the paint. They can be cleaned up primed,, blah, blah, but really need powder coating to sort it once & for all.

Other than that, get it remapped or fit a Power Commander. The difference is remarkable. Smoother at low revs, easier traffic filtering, better gear shifts, no hole in the torque curve at 4500 revs and of course more power. I also suspect mine is running cooler than before. It also benefits a lot from posh petrol rather than plain 95 RON.

A visit to Geoff at Hilltop is on the list..:)

Good choice, however, in the interim, fit a 'Accelerator Module'. only £35 and money well spent...lots of info on here about them...

Had the remap. Lovely delivery now. Pulls like a good 'un. Decat headers came this morning. Nice looking pipes (ebay - £100, used, not sure if they are Motad or other brand)

Next major step is a pair of PR4's.

All in all - quite chuffed so far..
