1st drop!

Coming into the Works yard just now I signalled right in plenty of time and was about to turn when I looked over my shoulder (deep check on yer test stylee) and I saw the Chrysler shtheap 7 seater moving right as if to overtake. Emergency stop with bars to the right, lost footing, fell over, stumbled and ran head first into a heavy steel gate.

Bugger! Had cup of tea in top box held in place with gloves so grazed hands (tea barely split - result!). Guy got out and helped lift bike and then explained "My brakes aren't good so I moved right to give me more time" Wanker!

Damage list in order of importance
Migraine ( it had been threatening and was prob 90% blame for the drop
grazed finger
scuff to new Shoei Multitech
scuff to LHS engine bar

Ah well at least the GSA drops well!

Howdya scuff the left bar if you dropped it with the bars to the right? I presumed it fell on its right side?

To get into the lane in front of the warehouse I have to do a U turn to the right so I was at walking pace starting to turn to the right when I did the last check, saw the Galaxy and stopped so the bike naturaly fell to the right with me leaning to the left.

Silly mistake resulting in a scuff or two and it seems a pulled muscle, ahem, bit of flabby tissue!

welcome to my world.......................as a short arse who ride a 1200gs......i have engine bars and cylinder head covers...........i was turning right the other day and a car decided he would turn right and not to bother to indicate.....so i put on the front brake and the bike decided it was goin to lay down............nowt i could do.. except i now have the art of steppin off to a fine art..............no damage to bike except a very small mark on me engine bars............. i really do love my beemer..............

It all comes down to quality of design like the bike cam discussion. GS's are designed to be dropped and come up smiling, if I'd had a Fazer Thou' or Bandit 1200 I'd be looking at £300 damage. So that's 10 drops and I've paid for the extra cost of the Beemer eek!

i had a 600 bandit with engine bars and when i dropped that all i did was the indicator lens......
