I am going to take my imported R1100GS for it's 1st MOT in order to get it registered and onto a UK plate.

Can anyone confirm some issues please?

1) Do I have to have a UK headlamp fitted or can I just black out the dip lens on the Euro headlamp?
2) Do I have to have an MPH speedo ? It currently has a KPH only speedo.
3) Are TKC80 tyres OK for a UK MOT?
4) I have a Remus Grand Prix after market exhaust fitted. Is this Ok for an MOT or do I have to refit factory exhaust?

Anything else special I should think of before taking it for it's 1st MOT?
Thanks

The only point to note here is the headlamp, IF it kicks up to the right.
UK headlamps should either be flat beam or kick up to the left.
Blacking it out will be fine.

All the other points should be fine.

If the kph speedo has mph marks its fine. Otherwise it will need mph stickers on the speedo face.

The exhaust will need the correct road legal markings.

Mark,

Speedo markings not part of the test, have look on the DVSA website,

Bike passed it's 1st ever MOT the other day - no problems at all :D Now to get the DVLA on side.
I've sent off the paperwork and cheque so fingers crossed in a few days I'll know if I've done it all correctly and can get out and ride the bike slightly more legaly than I have been :thumb
Just out of interest what do folk normally pay for a bike MOT? I had some widely different prices being offered about.

Toddy, Give the DVLA a call - I found them very helpful and they told me that a bike pre 2000 didn't need a certificate of conformity anyway. Mine was 1999. There's lots of stuff on the v55/5 that you think you should fill in which actuakky you don't have to bother with. I missed sending mine in by 2 days and siffered a £2 increase in road tax. Had I done it last month I'd have saved a couple of quid, but here again DVLA stopped me sending the wrong amount because I called them before sending it off.
