2 garmin units / same PC software?

Hi

I currently have a Garmin Quest with MapSource 6.11.5 running on my PC with City Navigator Europe V8 maps.

There's a Garmin 2610 going cheap as it only has V6 maps - but I'm assuming that when I plug it into my PC I'll be able to download the V8 maps onto it? I unlocked the V8 map when I got it but don't remember it being specifically tied to the Quest.

Any advice appreciated.

I've just done it the other way around. I've a BM 2610 equivalent and bought a 2nd hand quest. THe only problem I had unlocking the 2610 maps for use on the Quest was I mixed the serial number up on the Quest, which then couldn't have the maps downloaded to it as they didn't match Very nice man from Garmin gave me a new unlock code which sorted it all out

This is all assuming that you've only used one of the two unlock codes for the v8 maps.

Thanks for the reply John - but I think I'm more confused now!

Are you saying that when I plug in a new unit it'll prompt me for another code? I've only used one unlock code for the maps - but don't recall having 2...

Perhaps I should call Garmin - I have found their support very good.

What you need to do is to unlock the maps you already have to the new unit. Not difficult if you put in the right unit serial number
