A couple of mates and myself are heading off to Germany/Austria/Northern Italy on the Newcastle to Ijmuiden ferry on 25/8 , with our return date 2 weeks later.
I'm the only "sensible" one on my 1300GS, with one fella riding a Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello and the other a Honda Goldwing.
We have only booked the first and last nights accommodation, so we'll just see where the roads and weather lead us between ferry crossings.
One of the lads is convinced we'll see nothing but clear skies and the other - lets call him dark cloud 🌧️ - is thinking the complete opposite. Me, I really don't care either way tbh. 2 weeks on the bike is good no matter what.
We have only a few "to do" places in mind as we go, but ultimately it's all about the roads we'll find.
If anyone spots us along the way, stop and say Hi. We should be reasonably easy to pick out with that mix of bikes and the fact that there's a short guy, a tall lanky guy and a slightly rotund guy among us.

He's not had it long enough nor has he covered enough miles to know if this is true. His bike is a beautiful thing though.
The older Guzzis were typically an electrical nightmare.

I'll open a sweepstake on which bike is most likely to end up on the back of a recovery truck ...

Well, 2 bikes returned ......... both the 'wing and the GS made it back. The V100 didn't. It's owner is still in hospital 🚑 and might be able to return home next week after healing a tad more.

What happened to the poor chap did he have severe chest pains laughing at your bikes

What happened? Hopefully he’s ok and the bike is repairable.

He had a collision with a stationary car. Numerous broken bones and a punctured lung. He was in hospital for 3 weeks and only returned home a few days ago. I have no idea how the bike is tbh as we were not with him at the time.
Mind you it could have been much worse ........ it could have been me !
