Just back from a tour of Europe.

Southampton, Folkstone, Eurotunnel to Calais and then a hoon to Ypres and on to Mons & Bastogne.

Through the Mosel valley to Wurzburg and the start of the Romantische Strasse; Weikersheim, Creglingen, Rothenburg ob de Tauber, Nordlingen, Augsburg and through to Dachau and Berchtesgaden.

Down into Austria, stunning Zell am See and a trip around the Grosglockner on into Italy (through Switzerland) for a rendezvous with SWMBO on her 650 at Bellagio on Lake Como for some R&R and a base to jump off for the Stelvio.

And all too soon home via Zurich, Colmar, Verdun and back home through the tunnel.

2500 miles and the 800 worked like a Trojan without complaint. My first big tour and couldnt be happier with the bike (or SWMBO's 650 for that fact), great fun and cant wait to do it all again asap.

Thanks, this is just the type of story I want to hear. I did a similar route on my Versys this summer, my wife was on her GS650 and both bikes were trouble free over 2700 miles. Its because of the ease the GS 650 took the mountain passes I have descided to get my GS800.
PS How do you get pictures on this forum?

Have you seen this web site

Its from a young lady called Speedy Consales and she did a similar route but with the adventure element up a few notches. (It also looks like she found some good weather)

SWMBO did better on the passes than I did as her 650 just drops into the corners so much easier. I'd forgotten about the Maloja pass! I'd passed through it on the way down to Bellagio, a great ride that I was on and into before I'd realised it!

So many passes and too little time (this time!) :thumb
