2000 km in 18 hours

On today's roads and with aids such as satnav or knowing well worn route, if you're in good health and experienced it's not that big a deal.
40 years ago I thought nothing of a thousand mile ride back to Calais and it was lot lot harder back then. Lack of autoroutes and paper maps and notes.
I still do Surrey to Como in a day and Surrey to Bordeaux for Lunch. I've also done Amalfi back to Surrey via the tunnel in roughly 24 hours.
:D
2012 Guildford to Bologna for a 5 minute collection and then to Chambery, in total a tad over 24 hours, then late Dinner in the Buffalo grill that evening, I looked wrecked and they gave me a bottle of wine after they asked where I'd come from :D then slept for 24 hours in the appropriately named Brit Hotel
I regularly worked 48+ hour stints before that with no mistakes or issues. 24 hours + on a bike with fuel stops and food and drink seemed pretty easy apart from 6 or so hours at high speed in the rain :blast
Make your own choices!

976 miles (1570 KM ) in same time.......35 years ago.....Honda CX 500......

Dehydration hadn't been invented then....or breakdown cover.....or sat nav.....I was 24 and I pissed it.

Nice one Patzx12.......:clap

Not the end of the story, sorted a few things put the CBX to bed, grabbed the keys of another bike and headed back, Cork ferry dropped me in Roscoff at 7:40am
1930km to Malaga in 17 hours.
After the bollocking I got on here, I did have dinner at the border a Snickers a croissant + loads of water.
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If you are bored and have nothing to do on any given day Pat would you mind riding my 1997 VFR 750 home to Galway from fuengirola.sure you would hardly notice another short trip

... or, YOU tell her she cant come too!

Been riding since I was 16. Had over 50 bikes and

But I drink and eat during the day so not a real biker like you, fucking gobshite . Crawl back under your rock

Sent from my iPhone using Tosserbollockery

in reply ( not that you are worth it really BUT ? )

Firstly : a Gobshite i ain't,
Secondly : under my rock is cosy and warm and has parking for several Bike's ??

oh and the view is amazing as i can see a prick coming from a mile away ( especially in a pink Hi Viz ) :thumb

and finally : "have been away for over 7 weeks this summer since April on 4 different bikes and over 12000 miles" . you sort have answered my question and my suspicions there,,,,,so how many in the winter ?.

i did not reply straight away, as i wanted to see the reaction of the majority of members ( fantastic ) its good to see that there are members out there who have a set,

biking has always been a massive part of my life, and ill be fucked if ill be dictated to, by Health and Safety chicken shit do-gooders.

This is my best day's tally in 45 years.
Costa Del Sol to the Cherbourg ferry.
Fill up every 160 to 170km a right pain but i got it down to a fine art.
Tolls a pain.
Bike was faultless and total comfort, no aches or pains except for my dodgy big toe. The best seat in motorcycling, no standing on the pegs calastetics.
Hitting the 6am Monday rush hour in Madrid was not fun, hard to filter in the dark with cars zipping everywhere.
The hills over Burgos were cold. big rain crossing the border and up to Bordeaux.
No time for food, one cafe con leche and one cafe o'lait + half a litre of water.
Start at 2.30am in the Quick fast food restaurant at 20:30

You're a menace to society :rob

NO ABS, NO tyre pressure monitors, NO traction control, NO riding modes, NO dynamic suspension, NO dynamic brake light (WTF? :nenau) NO HID riding lights, NO cruise control, the list goes on.

Thank fuck some people still get it. :clap

Having had the same bike & colour.
It would piss that sort of journey...
Well done Pat.
( so miss mine )

THE PREQUEL:

Great footage Pat. Sitting here in grey Dublin feeling the need for sunshine. I was able to imagine the road and corners. At the entrance to La Zagaletta I was leaning into the corner (on my couch) :).

You like big miles Patrick:)

My biggest stats are 1625 miles in 22 hours, 5200 miles in a week and 14,500 miles in a month. All a while ago though now - I don't honestly know if I could do it now. The 14,500 was on a R1100S and the others on the 1150.

Great ride Pat! One to remember, especially on the big six.

Most of the guys on here get it.

(BTW, Just ignore the three bottom feeders who are clearly educationally sub-normal).

Total respect, mate....i couldn't do the mileage you do, but fair play to you. Best I've managed was 1235 miles in one twenty -four period and I was knackered at the end of it. :bow

Sitting on the couch could me tired, but never on the motorcycle. My co-pilot is the same.
I am looking at the mild weather and thinking a perfect time for a round trip to the CDS.
I look at my RR and think I want to be there again.
We did it in December - Jan in 08 and encountered snow.

Anyone up for it? 5000km in 2 weeks?

Vancouver to Toronto on a VFKR in 49 hours; I was young, stupid and a cd plate.

I will say that you do need to consider dvt when you're doing big distances and are older and less fit than you used to be.

I've done Berkshire to my place in Amalfi about 4 times in the last two years all between 24 and 27 hours pretty much straight through with a few fag and coffee breaks. If it's hot I have my camel pack to drink from and listen to audio books to keep me going. I love the challenge of it. Well done Mr Pat. That's some going.:bow
