2001 bmw r1150 gs rev counter

According to Ian…

The connector for it is located on the right hand side of the headstock. You can see it if you look down through the gap between the tank and the headstock. Black 3 pin connector.
The contacts might be corroded, worth looking. The Tacho or the wiring harness to it might be faulty.
The impulse drive for the tacho comes from the motronic (ECU) black/grey which is the pulse for the coil. Pin 2 of connector.
The green/black pin 1 is the +ve 12 volts and the brown pin 3 is earth.

The fuse on the heated grips had blown changed that a d when I turn the heated grips on the rev counter works very strange

First check wires yourself…most of the 1150 s have biodegradable wiring loom plastic, it get brittle, wires exposed and then good chance of a mass issue…
See as above what Ian suggested, it isn’t that difficult …..

Loom degradation around the headstock is the usual suspect - if it’s really bad the little wafts of smoke will help you find them …

Cut any cable ties holding the loom to the frame at the headstock.
Posted the same advice many many times over the years.
Let the wiring hang free and move with the handlebars, Tracey they don’t flex on the same small area and overtime finally break.
