2001 r1150gs value

Hi all,I am thinking of buying a 2001 y registered R1150GS.it's a bit scruffy looks like it has been kept outside or used during a winter look. It needs about £450 spent on it,cosmetically mostly. What sort of ball park figures would it be worth?. This would be my first foray into BMW ownership so help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I'd say between £2K and £2.4K. How much is it advertised for?

They can clean up quite well.

Here's one I did a couple of years or so back.

Was on sale for a couple of months at £2800. Now advertised for £2500. owner mot ing for a year and putting 6 months tax on it. But willing to sell as is !!

How have you come up with the figure of £450. What do you think needs attention? Has it got any aftermarket bits on it? Does it come with luggage? What oil has it been run on?

Don't Rush Into It

Hi Mac,
I'm only about 30 miles away from you. Is the bike your looking at local? I would be careful about paying too much for a bike that's spent a lot of it's life outside AND running through the winter. You mention it needs about £450 spending on it - where did that figure come from?
If you pay too much for the bike, then spend at least a few hundred on it plus a lot of your own time you might still have a bike that looks like it's had a fairly hard life?
It's sometimes better to wait for a really nice clean example to come up - although maybe slightly more expensive to buy it will possibly be a load cheaper overall?
There's been a few really nice clean GS's for sale in our area recently - in fact I was nearly tempted by one myself - but resisted!
I've had my own 2001GS from new and done all servicing and repairs from the 600 mile service and it now has 171,000 on the clock.

I've seen Grizzly's GS and it's a beaut. A real credit to him. That's a great offer that you shouldn't refuse.

PS This one you've seen is way, way over-priced.

Thanks grizzly for your offer. I have only seen pictures of the bike and it seems alot of money for a 2001 bike but I am not familiar with BMW prices. The owner says it is in perfect mechanical condition just a bit scruffy and is more than happy to mot it. It comes with no luggage or extras
