Having sold my 800gs due to not been able to ride for 4 months having just had an operation and also fancied a change, something older and better built another 1100gs or maybe a k75, 955 Tiger,(I have owned all the GSs except the 80 and 1200 over the last 25 years) I came across a 2001 R850r that my neighbour is selling due to lack of use he has had it from new full service history BMW mint 10k miles luggage etc etc. Been 6ft 3" not sure its going to be comfortable for longer journeys have sat on it seems OK but due to the op cant ride it :blast also looked at how much its worth prices seem to vary anything from £1750 with 30k miles to £5K 15k miles. He is also not sure how much its worth personally I would reckon around £2k.Your views on value ,comfort and anything else would be much appreciated :beerjug:

Hi,
As you are tall i reckon you will find it a bit cramped. I had a 1150R and at 6ft i found that a bit cramped in the legs.
You can lower the footpegs and fit bar risers.
As a one owner mint condition bike i think that your valuation is a bit shy.
Good luck anyway.

If it has an oem screen bar risers won't work. Lowering the footpegs only marginally improves comcfort for tall riders. Is it by any chance the Classic model with wire wheels and pinstriping on the tank?

Be careful looking at values. There are two completely different 850R models.
One is based on the old 850/1100 models, cable clutch, 5 speed gearbox etc.
And the other is the 850/1150 version, hydraulic clutch 6 speed gearbox.

And for the year 2001 i've seen both models. obviously the older 850 models must have been unsold late registered.
