Hi Guys,

After some advice and opinions regarding a fault with my bike, when applying the front brake, whether lightly or heavy, I get a pulsing sensation through the brake lever. I have overhauled the front brakes (Evo type, BMW Branded with Brembo on reverse side) with new brake discs and pads, new pistons and seals, plus fresh brake fluid. No fault with the ABS system, back brake is fine and I'm wondering whether the fault could lie with the brake lines. Did the bike come with stainless braided lines as standard, as mine is fitted with them currently. I had previously been advised the inside of the brake lines could have degraded and cause this fault?

In addition when the front brakes are applied I hear a mechanical clicking sound from under the tank, ABS pump? Is this normal, only heard it as I was riding the bike without my helmet as part of the fault finding process! As previously stated the ABS system works fine, with not faults displayed, but the sensation at the lever when the front brake is applied gives that on/off ABS feel! ABS ring is clean and free from corrosion, could the ABS sensor produce such a fault?

Any help or advice welcomed.

If the ABS and the braking system is working correctly, I believe its completely normal to get a pulsing sensation

The clicking noise may be from worn disc bobbins, you could try turning them through 90 degrees, although new ones are best.

Where the bobbins meet the wheel hub fretting can occur causing wear on the threaded hub spigots, this may cause pulsing as the wear isn't even.
You may be able to offset the wear by careful measuring and skilled use of a flat file.

Of course the pulsing may be caused by something else ie. brake lines, at 14 yrs old you may want to renew them.

Check the discs are the right way round (the drilled holes can cause this if disc put in the wrong way round) also check that the discs are not warped. Place each one on a piece of glass.
