My 2005 has quite a bit of corrosion on the alloy head under the plastic cover that houses the alternator belt, is this a major job to remove this cover to clean it up & re fit ?
I take it that its sealed & there is oil behind the cover?
Any tips welcome!
Thanks.

I think it's a common problem need to do mine, i would say there must be a seal behind this cover, not too sure how all the bolts will come out if they have been in since new could be snapped bolts and drilling out, i think I will doing mine in situ

There are several guides with pictures around t'interweb.
I cleaned mine on site.

Painted mine in situ went for black and repainted all the bolts silver, no probs taking the bolts out, i reckon that if you dod take the cover you would need to re seal it with victor reinz reinzosil as others have said there is no gasket from the dealer, this stuff is mustard

I took mine off a few years ago, took it to work and blasted it then painted it. I removed the foam strip behind the plastic cover as I think it collects water and holds it against the front engine cover. I didn't have any problems getting the bolts out and this was on a 9 year old bike with 60k on the clock and ridden through loads of winters.
Make sure that you use quality tools and penetrating oil before removal.

Nope! 4 for the small cover are different that those on the side cover and the two at the top are also a different type/size.

Go on realoem.com and look for your model it will show you the image of the front cover on the engine slide.
