has any one had the same problem , once in a wile , after I pull up side stand down , turn off engine , as in filling up at the petrol station , bike still on side stand , tart up and oil light go's cray , flashing , and a tapping noise from the engine , I rev the bike and it all stops back to normal ,oil level is fine .
any Ideas any one ????????????/:confused:

Try putting it on the centre stand instead and see if it happens again. When on the side stand your oil level drains to one side, maybe this is causing your light to come on? As for the clicking/tapping noise, are you sure it's just not the exhaust cooling as you've turned the engine off. I have the exact model as you and get the same, nothing to worry about just expansion and contraction. Check oil level though, as per the owners manual...

no making tappet kind of sound

no its not heat sound , but a tappet sound till i rev the bike then the light go's out and it sounds fine runs fine:confused:

What about the oil level when checked after a long run?

Is the oil light not for pressure not level, if the oil pressure switch has dirty contacts or is just on it's way out you may see symptons like this, I don't know how you would check the correct function of the switch.

HTH

your bike is on a '56' plate so i would get it in to your dealer in the hope that they will sort it under warranty. Not something i would leave too long either, last thing you need is the engine packing up...

getting looked at from BMW , but it wont do it on Q , its making a monkey out of me , so left it with them to see if it dose it again :monkeypiz

mine makes a tappety noise for a few seconds worse after an oil change for a few secs, presume it's just the time it takes for oil to reach the heads on startup. It's nothing I worry about - your tickover might be low. If it goes away after a quick blip I'd not worry about it too much. Then again you could be DOOOOOOOOOMED :D

sounds the same as mine then .

two of my mates have GS 1200's theres have never done it , so why is mine doing it , must be some thing to do with oil psi , :nenau :tears :duno

all fixed got to the problem

I have just been trailing my old posts and found this one that I never finished , so hear goes .(Mill BMW Sunderland)
once again BMW service is the best I have ever had, paul ,stev ,andy the lot, are a real good bunch, the problem was the chain tentioner that uses the oil psi to keep tention on the cam chain ,replaced it an runs fine now ,
