Im registered ..... along with the GF and 2 other couples.
Taking pogo sticks down in a van the weekend before and getting a couple of days off road before 'the event'
Done this area twice on a road bike and kept wondering...'where does that track go to...'
If you need some assistance getting a bike/spares/luggage there Nathan let me know.

I'm just waiting on a reply from my buddy, we're going to morocco next summer and are going to do this i hope on the way down there for a bit of fun......

Hi Harv,

thanks for the offer, i'll bear it mind and will be in touch nearer the time, if only for no other reason than to meet for a beer :beerjug:

signed up...

Desert Rat and I have signed up.

Will be arriving late Saturday/early Sunday and looking to explore the area. If anyone has any tips on "must-do's" in the area or has GPS waypoints/tracks please speak up :thumb Ta.

See you all there.

me and my buddy just booked the plymouth santander ferry on the 23rd july, anyone else taking this route?

I am driving down through France in a small truck with 6 bikes on. Looking to cross early on 28th.
We are treating the ride down as a bit of a jolly with a night out Saturday so wont hit Spanish side of Mountains until late Sunday afternoon.
We are booked in the 'event' hotel Mon - Thurs with a view on another lazy tour back up, crossing over Sunday afternoon.
That said its all very flexible ... we've done the route in 14 hours by driving in shifts before ... so if the weather is crap up North we will press on down.
The final day, Friday 4th, is my mates 40th....:beerjug::beerjug::beerjug:

We got our map and 'road book' through yesterday ... looks interesting!
Have decided to do a little detour to a place just South of Pau on the Sunday and leave just a short sortie to the hotel on Monday.
We will be taking 6 bikes and some tools etc so any brave souls riding there get in touch if you want us to carry spares etc but also dont be afraid to ask if you need assistance once there.... we will have tubes, levers, stands etc on board....as there are 3 girlies riding I suppose a full set of clutch/brake levers should be packed too....:augie
See you in the bar...
I am the tall, athletic one with lots of hair...:augie

Navigation is going to be fun.

Reading the fine detail on that monster map is a test for my eyesight sitting at my desk.

I am finding it hard to imagine navigating while riding offroad !!

I must admit the map is a bit of a monster...... I ended up laying it out on the lounge floor and getting the GF to shout out the grid references... I had a quick look at the area on a 3-D map.... its a top place to go and play!
Providing I dont break me or the bike on the Powys it should be good!

If you meet a little short twat on the way around ask him how his 1100's going and say hi from me :augie

That should wind him up for the week :D

I am also going on this together with a mate on an Africa Twin. We are riding there and back via Calais (done the Bilbao ferry once before on route to Morocco; prefer to sit on the bike rather than sit on a ferry), so if you spot us, give us a hoot. Needless to say, I am the unfeasibly tall one on the GSA.

I have your mates spare rear wheel in my van and we are good to go I think.
Just got the equivalent of an OS map for the French side around Luchon.... there is a 'trail' that finishes at @ 8000 feet on the French side and another 'trail' on the Spanish side at 6000 feet.... just 1800metres away with a 'dotted line' joining them up .... gotta be done.... hopefully on the bike ....but maybe on foot!
Will 'land' at Llavorsi Monday lunchtime... see you in the bar!

(your buddy has our moby number in case you need us on the way down)

Nick, Steve, Martin and I are venturing across to Boulogne Friday night on Speedferries, then a leisurely ride down over the weekend. The weather forecast looks good! Should be fun. :) Doing Millau and the Cheese Trail on the way back.
