as the title says, and in contrast to the smoothness of my previous 04 model GS. What changed with the update in 08? Did BMW change the gear ratios in 1st and second? Did they increase the idle speed? Change the throttle sensitivity?

08 / 09 bikes run even leaner than 04 series. Accelerator module helps, but ECU remap is the best solution if you have the money. Plenty of threads on both if you do a search.

+1 for the accelerator module.
do a search on here for info.:thumb2

If you don't go the remap route as I did, there will be an Accelerator Module and/or Wunderlich Fuel Controller up for sale soon. Send me a pm.

As Beemerman says or an alternate is a second hand power commander 111 which will sort the job for a lot less green backs than a remap:thumb2

Was going to ask this on another thread but this one will do.
Does the Hilltop remap affect the around town running of the engine or does the closed loop mode take over? which means there will be no change to how the engine runs in closed loop mode. ( when the lambda sensor input is used to alter the fuel ratio).
The hilltop remap only taking effect when not in closed loop mode.??

Dont see, able to send a pm Beemerman - maybe you have to subscribe to do so. Pity - I would have been happy to buy it from you.

Is the accelerator module like the one I had on the KTM adventure ie something to alter the rate at which the throttles open in retaion to the angle of the twist grip?

no, it alters the signal from the air temp sensor and fools the engine into running a tad richer, made a big diff on mine especially around town doing the slow speed type riding, some believe it improves mpg but mine stayed the same

Also worth checking with the dealers incase there is a software update. I took off an accelerator module before going for a service and the dealer did an upgrade which improved the low speed jerkiness almost to the same extent that the accelerator did.

You have to subscribe to get pm's mate and it's only £12. The advice alone on this thread must make that the best £12 you will spend for a while:thumb2
