Thats it. :hapybnce: Dealer called today as promised and confirmed that the codes are now online. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Looked at the option list and seems the are doing "packages" right enough. I compared the prices but ended up specking it up with individual bits as follows. Abs, heated grips, chrome exhaust, fuel computer, alarm, fog lights, headlamp cover, full 3 peice luggage, fender extender. Didnt reaaly see the need for the ASC or ESA.

Oh.........In Magma Red of course.:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1:bounce1

WOOOOOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOO!:hogroast:hogroast:hogroast:hogroast

Would have thought, ESA is a must have.:thumb

My understanding is, and I would love to be proved wrong (as opposed to just be told I am) is that if you spec the ESA you are absolutely limited to three combined compression damping / rebound damping / preload pre ordained 'packages'.
Personally, I have never been a suspension fiddler, but I have, on occassion set the bike up for a particular trip. And reviewing my notes, I note that, I have chosen a lot more than 3 combinations. To be limited to 3 choices would be too limiting, for me at least. Especially for a bike as versatile as a GS.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told by a dealer today that the ESA for the adventure model actually raises the bike up 22mm when off road is selected. Still looks like your getting yours pretty tricked out, though.:clap Can't wait until I get mine June '08.

Enduro ESA has 27 combinations of adjustment. Comfort, Normal, Sport - Solo, solo with baggage, Rider and Pillion with baggage and 2 off road settings, soft and hard and with the abillity to raise the suspension by 20 mm front and rear. The Enduro ESA is much more adjustable than previous ESA setups on any of the other current BMW bike range. :D:thumb:D

Forgive me if I am wrong .. but if you actually used that ESA system in say "africa" down a "road" without a backup 4x4 full of spares ... you be fecked? :augie

:clap Motoraad Central in Glasgow.:D Never had any problems with them. The codes were given out on Thursday, but were not fully working until Friday morning.

The bike is due to be with them on the 7th of February, but im going to wait and register it on the 1st of March.:wave:wave:wave

Nice one :thumb2

What's a "headlamp cover"??

I had the BMW one on my last one. Cracking bit of kit :thumb and looks much better than any others that ive seen. Actually comes with a new headlamp surround and the cover, which is removable for cleaning, is mounted on 4 rubber bobbons. Only problem is some of the the light gets scattered back up the screen, but it saves spending £300 :yikes on a new light.

Ive also taken the lower Enduro first gear option, so should be a wee bit nicer filtering at low speed rather than slipping the clutch all the time.

if you get the lower first, do you get a lower top as well? it was the case with the 1150.

i don't think i'd like that. top gear's too low as it is.

I did ask the question, and just confirmed it again with MC, and it is just the first gear thats changed, the rest of the ratios remain the same.

Had a RT12 for a long week end while my GS12 had work done. Thought ESA was marvellous, had three main settings. On each main setting, were another three settings. Which equals, 9 settings total.

On straight roads press button for soft suspension = for comfort ride.
Approaching bends press button a few times to adjust ride height, pre load and damping, ready for bend swinging. Once round bends press button again back to comfort setting. For "short arses" when stopping press to set on soft and bike/seat height is at lowest position.

I posted a long time ago that I am perfectly happy with my 04 12 30,000miles and that the only thing that would encourage me to change, would be when they brought out a 12 with ESA. Just my opinion. enjoy your bike when you get it.

Yes, no doubt, just the same if you had standard suspension or ohlins suspension. A few years ago Citron or Peugot can't remember which, where trying to win Dakar, rear suspension on two cars overheated, burst and sprayed hot oil onto hot engines. Result two one million pound cars burnt out. There are pictures around somewhere of these cars destroyed, all because of suspension failure.
