About to take the plunge and order a new '08 GS but looking for advice on screens, whether to stump up the £ 350 for Adv. screen /winglets or go for some other aftermarket kit e.g. Wunderlich Vario or Ergo touring. Am particulary concerned about pillion exposure. Our K12RS (which I am keeping) has rider and pillion seats only a inch or two difference in height but the GS espcially with the low seat (I'm a short arse) looks like my wife is going to shoved right up in the windblast.
Can anybody offer any advice on best arrangement esp. for pillion.
thanks - great site Nigbo

Go for the Adventure screen. It works really well and although expensive I think the quality is better than a lot of the aftermarket stuff, it's designed for the bike and doesn't look like an afterthought. Half the cost is the extra high brace which (apart from Givi) none of the others seems to have but is probably necessary at high speed.

Re seats. Although I am tall, I am a short ars when seated (all leg) and my wife was initially concerned about the height of the pillion. She has now done a few thousand miles on it and has no problem with wind blast, it all goes over her, but she really appreciates not spending a holiday looking at the back of my helmet - although at first she had a tendancy to duck under low bridges!!

I'd say go for the GSA screen and winglets, I know from previous experience that the winglets are beneficial for rider and pillion and as the 08 now has winglet mounting points as part of the front frame it's easy to fit them. (do a serch theres an article on that very subject on here :augie)

If your buying an 08 I would be negotiating a healthy discount for accessories from the supplying dealer. :thumb

I'd say save your £350 and go for a GSA, then you get the screen and winglets as standard! :thumb2

And the cost of the GSA? :nenau

I haven't had any complaints from pillions with either the OE screen or the ADV screen.

The cheapest option is to stick with the OE screen. If that doesn't work look at the Laminar Lip (do a search, looks quite handy) Or you could negotiate the fitment of the ADV screen when discussing your order requirements with the dealer.

Great advice-:thumb2 the dealer should throw that in for you-fitted with winglets, they keep the OE so the cost to them is almost nothing....
