2008 KTM 690 Adventure: Any pictures or links available?

having owned and ridden the below bikes here is my experience of the vibes:

my 640 Duke 2 55 plate used to vibea lot but i got used to it and it was not a problem.

The 640 Adventure vibes about the same as the Duke did.

My RD04 Africa Twin vibes a lot more than My KTM 950 Adventure but only about half as bad as the 640 Duke and Adventure.

Probably doesnt help but I tried :blast

Thanks Farmboy..... It does help... but I think I will have try them.

I was hoping someone may have ridden a F650 and a 640adv and then give me a comparison.... having only ridden the BMW myself

Cheers

The 640 Adventure vibes 2 - 3 times as much as the rotax 650 engine that BMW uses / used to use

The 640 Adventure engine uses 25-30% more fuel under the same riding conditions.

The 640 Adventure engine requires servicing about twice as often as the BMW / Rotax engine.

I would like to have seen what would happen if KTM got a licence from Rotax to use the engine that BMW and Aprilia use ... Its slightly heavier and a lot less "sporty", but for touring, there's no comparison.

Cheers for that colebatch.

Funny enough I am over in the UK at the moment.....

I went to Colin Appleyards in Leeds to try/sit on the KTM...NO. They said that KTM now wanted all dealers to be sole agency... they could not afford to sell just KTM, so thay sold all KTM bits off 2 weeks ago and now did not deal with them????!!!

I went to Allan Jeffries yesterday .... to try out and look at the 650 Xchallenge.... no stock and only on a order basis. Apparrently they did not sell because no one has anywhere to ride them now.. Quote.... I am so glad I went to Spain on that score... loads of old roads and no problems with the law... nice

Nice people at AJ's , I sat on the 450X.... very nice and I could be tempted... but no good for the tarmac miles.

So all in all it's been a bit miserable over here on that front.

Thanks for all your comments

Stuart

If and when it's finally launched, lets hope the 690 Adv takes a few clues from the 690 Rallye bike.

Here's Alain Duclos's bike before being shipped out for the 2009 'Dakar' in S America.

Utterly stunning,especially in white :

Nice Bike..... But I have a feeling they have'nt brought out the 690 ADV yet, One because they want the enduro/motards to take off and form their own niche and two, I believe they may be looking at a 750/800 Vtwin for the next lightweight advantage bike

I have no inside knowledge at all and may be completely wrong.... but I think they will be watching the success/failure of the BMW F800GS.

My 2p

Well I was drooling over Dupres Red Bull dakar bike at the NEC and had a chat to one of their guys. He said you can buy a customer bike now of you have 20k spare (I would if I had the cash), but there have been no official releases about the 690 adventure. He was sure it would happen, but not until 2010/2011.

I think KTM are missing a trick with this, I would exchange all my bikes for a 690 adventure that looked like this one :drool:drool:drool:drool:drool

No matter, it'll give me time to save up for an ex dakar bike :D:D:D

Build your own 690 Adventure.

Take a standard 690E,add custom fairing :

Just needs Aqualine tank, available shortly and Renazco seat.

Done.

Now that my friend is getting somewhere near........ very very nice.:thumb2
Though the price tag with tank and seat will be near £10k i should imagine....... what do you reckon?

Timpo.

I'd wait and see if the 690 Adventure is launched in the autumn.

£10K ?? How you figure that?

The 690E is a very underrated bike.
Goes like the clappers, is very light (not compared to an EXC maybe, but it carries its weight very well), good fuel economy, etc, etc.
The only issue for me is its a bit short and therefore cramped. The 640 Adventure was much taller - which suited me better.

ergh... the Enduro R does look nice, wonder if they did one in all stealth black...

wonder how long I'd keep it tidy before scratching the hell out of it:blast

Good advice - people have been waiting for many years for this bike. Forget about it and build your own. Here's the (albeit smallish) Aussie Aqualine tank just on the mkt.

From their site at : http://www.rvaqualine.com.au/page.php?sId=12

KTM 690 Enduro / 690 Enduro R

Litres: 14

Colours: Orange, Black or Translucent White

Fits: KTM 690 Enduro / 690 Enduro R

Bolts straight on with stock seat

Includes: fuel cap, taps, mounting kit, fuel lines and fuel transfer plate

This tank will let you use your 690 as a true adventure bike, giving a combined fuel capacity of 26 litres. The tank fits on as an addition to the original under seat tank. It is straight forward to install and easy to remove and replace for servicing. There are taps to isolate the fuel in both tanks so servicing can be done without the need to drain fuel (fuel must be drained for initial instillation). This capacity over doubles the range (original tank 12L) and has been molded to retain the original KTM styling and look, and gives you a unique, comfortable knee position on the tank.

I was talking to Swampy Marsh from Plymouth a couple of weeks ago ( KTM 4 stroke guru and JD's ex tech) and he understands that the adventure is not going to happen.
He is currently developing his own conversion kit with tank, carbon fairing, gps mounts ect to sell as a kit. Watch TBM for a test!!!

Me too. £2.5k plus your Enduro R and you 'll have your hand-made Adventure ...
