2009 Europe Maps - I cant see them

Hi,

I got an email from garmin saying that I was entitled to their new 2009 maps for Europe (City Navigator Europe NT 2009) on the Zumo 550.

Well I downloaded them to my PC and then hooked my zumo 550 up as instructed and all went well.

Trouble is, I tested it out on a small trip to work and back and there was nothing on the maps except the major roads?? None of the local streets that were there before I upgraded. I backed up the zumo before I started so I can get the 2008 ones back. Am I missing something or has anyone else had this problem?

I did uninstall the 2008 maps from my PC in order to make space for the new ones.

Its a BUG

Well trawled the net for an answer and theres nothing out there really.

Called Garmin and although they didn't use the word "bug" it seems a lot of people are getting this problem and they know about it.

Apparently when the update happens as per the instructions and little wizard, Garmin are finding that it is only loading the France + Spanish maps. Me being me, it had a different setup where it only loaded Italy & Greece by itself.

The solution is to let the install happen then go in afterwards on your PC and select the maps you want to install yourself and install them. Then the detail turns up.

You can check which maps you have installed by Pressing the Spanner, selecting Maps, Then Map info. it will list the maps loaded then.
