Hi, I have just bought a lovely RT, the black LE, 2009.

I want to add the cylinder protection so is the black nylon or the aluminium ones the best choice? And where to buy from?

I need to get a sat nav mount for my Garmon zumo 550. Mount it on the bars? or another mount? And again where to buy?

Thanks

Merrick

The genuine BMW mount that puts the Zumo above the clocks isn't too dear, it's cheaper than some aftermarket ones and puts the Zumo in a better viewing position IMHO.

I disagree. I have a 2011 R1200RT that has the BMW mount fitted. The mount is well made but is designed for the Zumo 660. The Zumo 550 will fit on this mount but the viewing angle is all wrong and when the sun is out you cannot see anything with the glare. Having said that the cockpit on the 2009 model is different to the newer bike and you may find it works fine. I have just ordered the Wunderlich mount for my Zumo 550.

I've got the BMW nylon ones on my RT .... they look smart and unobtrusive. Not sure how good they'd be in a crash. I hope I never find out :augie

Got a nice ali mount that sits above the clocks and is mounted onto the top plastic trim. It could be a Touratech one? but I'd have to check. It looks smart and seems well placed but as I don't have a Zumo 550 (just the sat nav mount and Zumo cradle) I can't confirm how easy it is to see in various conditions

Anyone want to buy an 07 plated RT? :D
