2010 1200GSA Power Outlet(s)

Any of you luminaries able to shed light on this -
The bikes come with a power outlet on the left side, low down.
There is a moulding under the 'beak' where a hole may be drilled to fit a BMW socket. But as far as i can see - or rather, feel - there is also a moulded ridge under the right side as well.
Soo - can one be fitted on the right? Also can one be fitted left and right?
One dealer says no, another dealer on 1st visit said no and on second visit another bloke said no idea and none of the workshop staff could answer the query. Apparently the main man was off today so that's maybe reasonable.
On a test ride, the RH mirror started swinging around after 5 mins.

Any ideas guys?

I've NOT been out to look, but the only thing that really governs where you place one is the space available BEHIND the socket.

RH wing mirror lock nut needs tightening.

Yeah - being an ex bike mechanic I even remembered left hand threads but found it was the rubber cover holding the plot together. The stub into the lever mount was loose too so into the pocket it went.
I dunno...

Take the point about the 'space' behind the moulding. Is it likely to be a 'goer' on a GS but not a GSA? If so that would make it like the kinda stuff Guzzi would do. Shurely not?

I had both sides fitted to my GSA, bought a powerlet kit to do so but was expensive. I never used either of them except for charging.

May do the same to my 2010 but will just but two kits from Nippy's and wire them together in to one harness and then to the battery. Thats all the powerelt kit was. Very easy to fit even for a numpty like me.

Thanks guys. Just ordered the bike with two from BMW. We came to an 'agreement'...

I have the 2nd power socket fitted on the left side wing of beak behind the L/H screen winglet and wired directly to the battery. Handy for sat-nav and camping light etc etc.

Please note that if not wired directly to the battery, it will cut off automatically after a minute or so after you have switched off the ignition!

The BMW additional plugs just piggy back onto the existing underseat socket and I see no reason why you cant piggy back two as I actually did this to power my Autocom. It will time out this way like the existing socket of course as previously stated.
