I bought a cheap 2010 adventure a year ago, it has a chequered past 2007 on the v5 60k miles of commuting. A year before I bought it it had a clutch and a shaft. Anyway, the other day the clutch started slipping, it had a high bite point and on inspection the plate was 6mm thick. So I pulled the bike apart yesterday to see what’s going on, the date on the disc is 2021 but the covers are the originals, I’m guessing the springs are weak. As I was taking it apart 3 of the subframe bolts broke off, annoying but not the end of the world. This morning I went out to start the bolt retrieval process only to discover who ever did it last time also snapped the top right one off and instead of drilling it out properly they sent a drill and tap at a angle through the old bolt and snapped a chunk of the casing off in the process leaving the subframe hanging on hopes and dreams. So now I’m looking at engine casings clutch covers oh and the shaft is rough to turn. So I’m left with this issue. I value the bike at 2-2.5k a engine is 800 ish the shaft 150 to sort a clutch kit 350 oil seals and other bits do I break the bike and try to get a grand back or spend the 1300 quid on fixing it. With a bit of luck I was planning on getting a 2017 ish bike this year any way.
