2010 DOHC GS vs 2012 DOHC GS, what's the difference.

I happened to notice when browsing the brochures that in the 2010 brochure for the DOHC GS the dry weight is 203kg, and wet 229kg, yet in the 2011/12 brochure it's 209kg dry and 234kg wet. Both are for the cast aluminium wheels, so what changed between 2010 and 2011/12 to make the bike 6kg heavier dry?

The only difference I can see in the specs above if the ASC Stability control.

Very confusing, to me either it's a typo/confused with another bike, or BMW don't actually know what their bikes weigh

The only other thing I could think of is whether one brochure is for the UK market, and the other the euro or US market, but again I'm not aware of any differences between the different markets except for the amber reflectors/side lights for the US, and if they weight 6kg they're the heaviest reflectors/lights I've known (for the size)

Thats some weight gain nearly a stone in old money.
Perhaps they changed the rules about quoting weights and how it's calculated

I think it's because on the 2012/13 although they're optional extras they list ESA and ASC and therefore have to include them in the final weights

Would seem to be about the right weight increase for these two items.

Have you added up the required (to be a real GS'er) stainless steel accessories and bling that are defacto on the majority of bikes?

Not at all worried about the weight, after all I chose the GSA over the GS. Just curious that's all

On the plus side the more fuel you put in the 2012MY the lighter it gets!

Considering that the centre stand is essentially located in the middle of a shot blasting process every time a bike goes out in the rain I think it stands up pretty well.

I'm not worried, it's being replaced under warranty Surely a thicker coat of paint on it at the factory would be cheaper than replacing all these centre stands though.

Combined weight of bike & rider

Judging by the size of most of the clothes in the For Sale Section, the majority of Tossers could restore the combined weight of bike and rider by cutting down their mid-morning snack from 4 pies to 2 (for a couple of days)

It's only a stone, after all

I think the weight is irrelevant to a degree. It's how the weight of the bike is distributed that's more important. As mentioned, how much weight does all the Touratech shite and other bling add to the bike?

I haven't got round to getting my bike weighed with all the farkles on yet, but it's on the to do list. Boring, I know, but I'd really like to know how much my bike actually weighs with a full tank of petrol, and all the crap I've bolted on.
