as stated, I want to add some risers. If i dont have the E torx specific tool to remove the bolts, how would you go about removing the 4 bolts? Or do I buy the 2 specific tools from halfords?

Use the correct tools for the fasteners. You will do more damage than good and using the correct tools will mean the fasteners are tightened correctly.

Rather than buying just two specific tools you may be better off buying a set. It may be just a little more in cost but you'll have the set when it comes to do more work on your bike or even car as more and more manufacturers are using Torx.

Try a good six sided socket and be careful, they should not be to overtight , try the larger one first, You can buy a ring spanner to do both if you know the sizes.
Borrow the sockets from someone !.
