Now we know next years GS is going to look the same with 5 BHP increase and no more torqe is it worth changing ?

It does have the new switch gear, not sure if that a good thing.

New switch gear seems to have caused a few problems on the K1300 bikes ....

Maybe they're the beta testers for the switches

If it has more power, how often would you use the extra? Once a year on the German autobahns if you're lucky

Cheaper to add power commander and exhaust system. - so cannot see me changing.

I thought that too about the new switchgear until I test rose a F800R. Once adjusted to it, I quite liked it, so I wouldnt write off a 2010 GS because of that if I was in the market for one. No major changes will certainly keep up values on 08/09 bikes I guess.

The MCN shots show a changer of indicators.............!

Gone are the BMW quirky ones and in with a new traditional style button on the left bar. In the MCN shot LED indicators are out (bit odd) and the standard 08 ones are back in.

New kill switch too?

No reason to change for only 5bhp...

i actually prefer the BMW switch gear, first time i used it was on the GS. Took a bit of getting used to at first, but after 10 mins it felt really natural, and i find it helps for a smoother riding style. Just a small movement of the thumb

I took a while to get used to the BMW indicators, but at least they are quality gear. The new ones

They will put BMW owners off, ironically they even know that [discussion with a BumW dealer] but they want to attract the Jap bikers and reduce costs. A real shame

I was told tonight that the new GS will have some very small changes to it, this must mean that panniers top box tank bag and seats will not fit from an 08-09 bike ? or am I just being un-kind to BMW

Your right of course. I have had dozens of Jap bikes over the years. never have understood all the problems over BM' switch gear.................................perfect

I did like the position as well until I purchased a BMW x650 and this bike has the single indicator switch on the left. If you are making a range of bikes the indicator switches should be the same on all models.

It's all heresay and if it's the normal MCN bullshit, sorry, I mean journalism it will be less than 50% accurate.

I would wait until you see the bike in the flesh before you worry yourself over an indicator switch

Unlike me who has a real problem with it bit I WILL get used to it cos it's the only thing I have a problem with.

I don't find the switchgear and indicators a problem, but I only have the GS at the moment. I guess it may be irritating if you are going from bike with 'normal' switchgear to a BM and back.
For preference I'll take the harley design. Left and right buttons but you press the same button to cancel rather than having a separate cancel button.

But it amazes me how much of an issue that the journalists make of the switchgear, it's not important. Bunch of

The pic in MCN looked like an 08 bike with a few bits photoshoped on now I look at it again. LED indicators are the giveaway.....
