2010 GSA Service Costs, What does the team think?

Hi Thomas, we use the GS911 diagnostics for BMW's so no problem there.
We charge £160 for a 12k service and only use BMW genuine parts. Let me
know if you want to book in.

Sounds good to me. reasonable price for sure.
Had my 59 GSA serviced at a non BMW dealer, problem is, no diagnostic to reset the computer, so showing the service icon ffs.

Will give you a ring to book a service in 3k miles lol.

changes to service spec

I can understand why riders get annoyed about newer machines seeming to need more an more servicing (ie plugs at 12k not 24K)

being in a similar transport maintenance environment I can comment that sometimes these service schedules change with experience and knowledge of what the garages are seeing at service time and what BMW UK are getting back in warranty, especially on a newly revised engine

it may well be that the change to the bigger 2 spark 1200 engine has brought an increased level of wear in plugs now seen and they have had to drag back the interval to 12k based on what they have seen,

of course they may also just be after the money, but would like to think its not all about that - for instance my 2006 GS doesnt seem to have a fuel filter change in the spec, the 1150 did, progress??

they also have to pitch themselves 'right side' to cater for all forms of use form those of us that just commute on the thing to those that thrash round the world every 6 months

service checks are rigid and the best dealers give you a bit of flex, or better still do it yourself and just check plugs and air filter every 6k and change when reqd!
