2010 less power - BIKE mag shock

I would have thought Torque is more important (on our type of bikes) than BHP..

100BHP 250 anyone?

"Buy the ticket, take the ride" :thumb Hunter S Thompson.

Torque every time in the REAL world, I agree with Sleepy, I'm in!

Anybody trading in a nearly new GS for the new model must have more money than sense

Power virtually the same, looks the same, practicality the same, comfort the same, handles the same but costs you shedloads to change!

So you haven't ridden one?

I had a gs because i was fed up of honda yam etc chasing power figures :augie
I go to work on a honda 90, Every time i ride the bmw it feels like i have a turbo on it:D

He clearly hasn't ridden one!

Did 200 miles on Friday on a new 2010 GSA with 200 miles on the clock. Weighing in at over 17st a few extra BHP makes bu**er all difference to me! That is, until last Friday.

The 2010 bike is all about torque. And a noticeable difference.

My two main criticisms on the bike are that the louder exhaust gets tiring on the motorway (I don't wear ear plugs) and it needs a longer top gear. 4, 5, and 6 are too close and I spent the whole trip looking for 7th!

I had the same impression when I tested the new GSA.
Although the torque figures are practically identical to the 08-09 GSA. They seem to have moved the torque to where it gives the best benefits.:thumb

Performance and sound wise. The new stock GSA rides like my fully sorted 09 GSA.

Seem to remember reading somewhere that the 2010 GS has 15% more torque at certain revs. Although the 08/09 has similar peak power and peak torque the difference is in the shape of the torque curve. It's the boost in torque at lower revs that really makes the difference to how the bike feels under normal riding conditions.

quality - thats an even longer piece of string.

anyway - it was suggested in Bike mag. that the twin cam layout is ready for a power boost in next years model.

So roll on the 2012 125 bhp 1200GS 'tenere beater':bow

Wouldn't pay to much attention to Bike magazine - the DOHC HP2 Sport already has 135bhp. They could have made the GS more powerful if they wanted. I think they wanted to make the GS more flexible - which is what they've done. Bike magazine care about max output an little else - too sportsbike biased imo.

sat in me mates car once, but wouldnt have the bottle to actuly drive the damn thing though, 10,000hp is way to much, especially with no fecking brakes, so speak of!!

It all depends on the definition of perfect doesn't it?
Not in the slightest. It simply depends on the opinion of the person posting, and in my opinion it is about perfect. Your opinion may differ. It's allowed.

Yes dear of course you did.
Glad you agree. So what was the point of this:

That sounds as though you don't actually agree.

But then you add:

Which does agree that it's a matter of opinion.

Yet, back to your first post:

100bhp is about perfect tho.

and it has not the slightest indication that it's a matter of opinion at all.

Any casual reading of that statement (by those who are not blessed with second-sight) would probably take it as a statement that less than 100bhp or more than 100bhp is anything but perfect for everyone.

Of course you could have saved all this to-ing and fro-ing by just qualifying your "100bhp is about perfect tho" with IMO, or even IMHO. Possibly your could have responded to Vern's post by simply saying that your were giving your opinion and not as it appears a statement of fact.

Then again, you're the sort of cock that cannot just admit that you meant your comment to be seen as simply your opinion and that's probably due to the fact that you're the sort of cock that believes that your opinion should be adopted by everyone else.

dyno test in the April BIKE mag shows less power for 2010 compared to 2009 bike.

Bit of a 'GS' issue with several road tests, history and ride report.

You will be pleased to hear that Simon Pavey gives the new bike his thumbs up:augie

:rob:rob:rob:rob:rob:rob:rob:rob:rob

Believe all you want in 'BIKE' magazine.

The article is so well researched that it states that the Triumph Tiger 1050 is available in Black or White, whilst the Triumph official website states Black, White, Blue and Orange. If BIKE can't even get that right........:nenau

Here we go again:augie Over to you Adam.
