So if you have a lot of power you can tighten your nuts very quickly indeed!

)In truth, I don't think a few bhp either way matters, as long as you are out there enjoying yourself who cares.
I think there is a certain threshold, probably around 50bhp or less were a bike can feel "short of beans" on occasion however there are some good bikes that are made for that sort of power level .. any more in them would not be good. eg - older British bikes, the new Honda 700, CX500 and more.
I believe my bike .. 06 GS makes about 85 bhp, totally standard, it's enough for me, I have a kind of self imposed maximum of 90mph ... more for my personal safety and the longevity of my licence than anything else, - should I wish to my bike will exceed that and by some, it's fast enough to avoid being trampled by a cage and will waft along on torque alone in the mid range, and I can use most of what I have should I chose to (or not if I am lazy), - Perfect,
If I wanted more I could buy it, .. looked at the Honda VFR1200, nice bike but could I use it properly, I doubt it. I can understand those who might want a ZZR1400 or ilk, I would willingly try one for an afternoon, but ownership, no, I think it would become an exercise in constant restraint.
The big difference between earlier R12GS's and the DOHC R12GS is in the delivery of the torque : it's higher from 2000 rpm up to 5000 rpm, and that's exactly where most riders will rev the engine.

Can't this be achieved with a re-map?
I believe the 2010 has a much louder zorst.
I suspect that a 2004-2009 could be given similar output for less money?
